Resolved Question: what color curtains goes well with light blue colored walls and what other colors should i combine ?

i want my apartments bedroom to look really romantic yet Contemporary..what color bedsheets should i use? should i add some more color to the walls to add a dramatic look like adding a sandy golden color stripe on the wall where my king size bed is placed or should i combine whites with this light soft blue which i have on my walls...and the door is brown in color with white molding i know that's bit bizarre...but i really need some tips...shall i put a mirror on the wall where the bed is and some sconces too...i really dint know how to pull everything together...i M really confused NEED SOME SERIOUS ADVICE...PICS CAN HELP.. more

hi re doing bathroom on a budget.have good vanity with lots of storage.just needs fresh coat of paint and pulls.the top is a beige travertine look.The wall will be a color called tranquility by benjamin moore which is a soft pale blue-teal.sink is white with chrome hardware and chrome mirror with sconces.Should I paint the vanity a creamy white or would a dark chocolate look best.want a spa feel.Any suggestions on what color flooring.I have wood althrough the house.Should I carry that into the bathroom or put down a tile. more

Voting Question: What color should I paint my bathroom to complement off-white & emerald green ceramic wall tiles?

I want to paint the walls in my bathroom (not the tiles themselves, just the part of the wall above the tiled part). The tiles go from the floor to about halfway up the wall, and then the top half of the wall is plaster. The tiles are off-white (almost bisque) with the emerald green trim. It's a full bath, but really small with little natural light except in the late morning. The tiles are not the focal point of the room, except for possibly the green trim. Our fixtures (mirror, sconces, and towel bar) are brushed nickel. Any suggestions? more

Resolved Question: Recessed lights over vanity in bathroom ?

Need some help with placement. How far from the back wall do you place recessed lights? I think I have them spaced right just unsure of how far back. My vanity counter will be 73.5" long. Installing (3) 3" 50 watt lights over the vanity. I pretty much decided to put one light on center 36.75" from side wall and the other two 18" to each side. Does that sound good? But, how far from the back wall? I would like the light to wash down the wall and reflect the light as well. I know I will need to find some other wall sconce lights for around the mirror but would like to make correct decision on the recessed for nowYes, lights are directional more

I have a 1BR apt facing South. Here's a little more about it... My theme is Asian/Feng Shui but I've also accepted Morocco into the scheme of things as I found two guardian dogs @ Pier 1. I'm buying the Dragon June Rug @ Pier 1 if that helps for the Living Rm. DINING RM/KITCHEN: Enter into the dining area. The apartment has been rehabbed. My tiles are marble-esque I guess. They're a really light gray/beige/white... To the right upon entry is a closet with sliding doors which I use as a coat closet/broom closet. To the right is my teeny kitchen. I call it a turn around kitchen. You walk in, turn around, and you're already out. There is a 6' row of cabinets w/ sink and the stove on the right and Fridge on the left. The kitchen is MAYBE 6-8' by 5'. I have an iron sconce on the dining room wall going into the kitchen. I also have an iron mirror on the wall straight ahead of entry into my apt. LIVING ROOM: If you go back to the front door, the living room is straight ahead but slightly to your left. The separation between the carpet & tile is on an angle. The carpet is light beige. My furniture is tan microfiber and all the dang tables are OAK. I'm tired of OAK. I have plans to sand down all the tables and paint them black this spring. I have a papsan, loveseat, sofa, tv & stand, DVD rack, 2 end tables & a coffee table. For decorating, I have bought a 3X4' mirror but it hasn't made it onto the wall just yet. I also have an imported Japanese vase (about 3' tall) that I fell in love with. I have a bamboo screen draped with 2 or 3 yards of teal silk imprinted with a Japanese print. There are sliding glass doors on the back wall of the living room that face South. I have a 5X8' balcony. BEDROOM: Upon coming in, go past the entry/broom/coat closet. There is another linen closet immediately to the right. just 2 or three more feet ahead is the end of the hall. There is another closet with 3 high shelves because it houses my teeny water heater. This is the game closet. To the right is the bathroom and the left is the bedroom. Upon entering the bedroom, there are four closet doors (two closets with two mirrored sliding doors each). The window is straight ahead facing south. I have a queen sized bed, nightstand and armoir. There is also a 4' folding table which serves as my computer desk. I have no where else in the apartment to put it. I am going with a black & pink theme in the bedroom. I know this is rather lengthy but I want to get some good suggestions. I am looking to PAINT accent walls in the Dining Room and Living Room. Please HELP! :) more

Resolved Question: Looking for a wrought iron tree with tealight sconces wall hanging, manufacturer, etc. ?

I saw a wrought iron tree, with tealight sconces wall unit at a antique store in Lake Elsinore, California. It was so unique. It was a tree with branches, the leaves were little mirrors, and there were tealight sconces (approximately 6) spanning acoss the width of the tree. It is a beautiful piece...if anyone knows where I can purchase this, please let me know. I could not justify buying this item for myself, but really thought it was a nice piece of art. more

Voting Question: help with colors please? ?

I have walnut wood, with a beige sofa and chair. I have iron accents and botanical theme(I have 4 pictures of ferns above the sofa in black floating frames with a shelf below them with 4 votive, tan candles in clear glass) I have two lamps that are black with fern green shades on each side of my sofa and next to the chair I have a black floor lamp with a glass shade. Also on my sofa I have matching beige,fern green, and sunny yellow pillows and a fern green throw. In my hallway I have a iron/glass top sofa table with a black mirror above it with iron sconces with yellow candles in them on each side of the mirror. In the dinning area I have a walnut counter height, square dinning set. Near by I have an iron baker's rack. On top of the table I have fern green place mats that match the fern green pillows from the sofa and sunny yellow cloth napkins. Now my question is would adding the color amber be too much or clash? I really like the color of glass amber but I'm afraid I'll have to ditch the yellow that I have now. Amber glass accents is the more yellow tones, not redish. There's these 2 floor hurricanes I would like to get to go next to my TV stand but they come in clear glass also, so I'll probably stick with the clear.I should read "in" instead of "is". Resolved Question: Are you doing anything extra to decorate your reception hall?

My reception hall is very pretty, with mirrored ceilings, wall sconces, gorgeous carpet, and a shiny dance floor. However, my mom feels like it needs some more decoration other than just the floral centerpieces. What can I do besides draping (ceilings are too low) that'll tie together the elegant look of the venue? We are already putting low votive candles with scattered rose petals around the centerpieces. Anything I can put on the walls besides posters/pictures, which I think look cheesy? Any ideas? Thanks! more

Resolved Question: Help! I live in a Fun House - that is a house of mirrors. How to remove.?

The house is a brick ranch built in 1956, with plaster walls, in the detroit suburbs. In the LR there is an entire wall of mirrors, three 8' by 4' panels abutted to each other. This wall backs to the attached garage. One of the sconces on this wall no longer works (they are ugly besides, and placed wrong). I have thought about painting the living room wall or covering it with fabric, but I really need to get to the electrical, and on the garage side it is finished also- all built in storage. Also, in all the bathrooms, are large (at least 4' x 6') mirrors mounted to the walls, again with cutouts for seriously outdated lighting. My husband is concerned about what is behind them and that I will create a bigger mess by removing the mirrors. How to safely remove the mirrors? Based on age, type and location of house what is likely to be behind them? Is this a DIY project? If not, what kind of expert do I call in? more
