Open Question: Would you take this mattress or leave it?
My son has outgrown his toddler bed & I bought the bed he's been begging for, only to hit hard times financially & not have the money to buy him a decent (not fancy but not junk) mattress. My parents are offering me an *unused* Sealy Posturepedic for free... but it's been sitting uncovered in a somewhat dusty, vacant bedroom now for over 5 years - a room where they keep caged lovebirds & budgies. I imagine most of the dust in the room is from these birds & I'm more grossed out than happy about taking the mattress (though my son desperately needs one). Am I just being stuck up, or is it right to decline? What would you do in this situation? moreOpen Question: Need help buying a new mattress?
I'm buying a new mattress for school in the fall, full size. I don't know a lot about the different types and styles, all I care about is that it meets the following criteria: -Is firm -Won't sag in the middle over time -Is relatively inexpensive. I don't care if it's memory foam, I can just get a topper if I decide I really need it. I really don't need any fancy features. Just something that works. Advice would be much appreciated. moreOpen Question: Why is my Memory Foam mattress so hard?
I bought a Comfort Dreams 10-inch Memory Foam mattress (twin XL size) a few days ago, but... It's REALLY hard. It's like sleeping on a rock. I woke up incredibly sore this morning, is this supposed to happen? Is there anything I can do to make it a little softer? I'm almost ready to just bring my old 20 year old spring mattress back. Here is the mattress: http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Comfort-Dreams-10-Inch-Anti-Bacterial-Allergy-Dust-Mite-Silver-Treated-Memory-Foam-Mattress-Twin-XL/4416190/product.html?rcmndsrc=2 moreResolved Question: Why is my 97 Ford Explorer squeaking so badly and what can I do to fix it?
I have a 1997 Ford Explorer XLT 4WD w/ V6 SOHC Engine Everytime I turn the wheel OR anytime I hit the slightest bump in the road, the truck squeaks. It's not squealing like a belt is loose or something, but SQUEAKING....it sounds like someone is jumping up and down on an old mattress. It's annoying and so embarassing. Also, when I turn the wheel, it turns kinda rough and creaks. Could someone give me an idea of what the problem(s) could be and about how much it would cost to repair this? I'm thinking of buying the parts myself and just paying someone to do the labor, but I would need to know exactly what parts I would need to buy. Please help if you can! moreOpen Question: Dormia foam mattress smells?

I'm selling a bunch of things that I don't need. Kitchen ware, toys, clothes, etc. My big question is about the crib. I bought the crib for $110 and the mattress for $60. The bedding for $60 and its pink with winnie the pooh. Im not sure how much to ask for the crib and mattress together. Its pretty much new since my daughter hated sleeping there. And how much should i sell the bedding for? I've never put a yard sale before so Im a little lost. Thanks for your help! moreOpen Question: Mattress problem...help?
I bought a Golden-Mattress Queen sized mattress about 3 weeks ago and it was so comfortable. Now it's starting to feel hard and I heard the box spring make a squeaky noise just today, but it's not broken. The mattress is sitting on the floor, but I heard that's not an issue as long it is sitting on a box spring. Could the box spring actually be the reason for the mattress discomfort? And I would call the place I purchased it at, but once a stain is on the mattress, warranty is voided. I have three small spots of make-up my sister spilled on it. Anyone know if Golden Mattress is a good brand? Or a type of profession that cleans mattresses? Or if mattresses don't feel like they first did 3 weeks after they've been purchased? It's only me...no one else sleeps on the mattress. There shouldn't be a problem this soon. moreOpen Question: What is the best kind of mattress to get (links provided)?
What is the best kind of mattress to get (links provided)? I have a really old mattress that was given to me buy an roommate when he left because i was sleeping on the floor for a year becuase i didnt have a bed after me and my boyfriend broke up. i think its a really comfortable mattress because its really firm but everyone else that lays on it says they dont sleep well on it. I want to get a foam mattress of some type and I want the bed to be a custom shape so I found this website that makes them and i have it narrowed down to four types. My moms sister gave my husband and I a crib she had set up and used for what she said was a short time, she had it had her house for her grandson who's since grown out of it, when she gave it to us it sort of smelt like dried up rotten milk, she said that it would wipe up, its a pretty cherry wood bed and apparently it converts so a toddler bed later on, we just need a new mattress.... I am not trying to be rude, but this aunt has a tendency to buy things on sale, she said she bought it at baby's r us and it was a relatively expensive model, but she is the type of person who would buy somethinon salele with a flaw just to save a fedollarsrs....my mom was so excited for us treceiveve this crib and I dont want to offend anyone but I have NO issues stepping up and hurting feelings for the sake and safety of my child, and I have NO issues spending money on a new crib in order to ensure mchild'sds safe...the worst part is there is Nstickeret on the crib anywhere to tell me what type of crib it is, and to look up to make sure I do have all the parts (since we took it from my aunt in pieces) and to ensure there are no recalls, which scares me Who anyone use a used crib?? or have?? is there any way I can look for a serial number or a website to ensure the cribs safe? moreOpen Question: My cat won't stop urinating and sometimes defecating in the house! what can i do?
He is a 9 year old cat who has never once answered nature's call outside his litter box up until about 8 months ago. I was living in a condo and my roomate got a kitten, a little after that he started to, what i believed was, marking his territory and only in my bedroom which the kitten was quite keen on sneaking into. I have now moved into a house with my boyfriend which he bought and we have no other animals, except ferrets that he has been around for years and never bothered him once. He pees on everything, clean clothes, carpets, blankets, bags and even on an expensive futon mattress. I took him to the vet and they did a urine analysis that concluded there was no medical issue and it was strictly behavioral. The house is very large and the cat is well fed, very healthy and gets an astounding amount of love and attention. I don't know whats wrong? What can i do to make him stop? moreOpen Question: Does Diatomaceous Earth kick around and cause dust clouds, or does it stay on the floor?
We have a bed bug problem and we're thinking about buying diatomaceous earth to spread around the house and on the mattress and in carpets, I would like to know if it kicks up into the air and causes small clouds of dust or if it just stays on the floor and just moves around. Also, can I mix it with water and then put it on the floor to prevent dust clouds and still kill bed bugs?DE actually works by breaking down the wax on the insects skin, rendering it vulnerable to dehydration, and therefore dying. I know how it works already. I just want to know if it kicks around and causes dust clouds, or if it stays on the floor! I appreciate your helpfulness though. moreOpen Question: Is there some place to buy a vacuum storage bag to move a king size foam mattress in?
I am moving from New Orleans to Chicago and I have a 10" thick foam mattress. When they brought the mattress to my apt for delivery it was in a vacume sealed bag which would really reduce the space needed to move. I am trying to find a service or somewhere I could get a bag that I could vacuum the air out and move it. moreResolved Question: How do I keep my wet sheets and towels from balling up into my fitted sheets in the dryer?
I just recently bought queen sized sheets for my new mattress. Before, I was always able, with the full-sized sheets, to wash the sheets and towels together with no problem. With the new sheets, however, when I launder sheets and towels, one or 2 of the towels ball up into the fitted sheet. I wash 2 bath towels, 2 hand towels, a bath mat, plus a fitted sheet, a regular sheet, and 2 pillow cases together (and sometimes the pajamas go in with them) Never a problem before, but lately I end up having to redo the dryer time b/c one of the towels got balled up into the fitted sheet, and thus the sensor couldn't tell that it wasn;t dry, so the dryer cycle stopped naturally. This happens every time. TOnite, I just did the sheets and pajamas, and it still happened with the bedsheet getting balled up into the fitted sheet. I put them into the dryer separately. How do I stop this? moreOpen Question: Does anybody know where I can get a Free Double Mattress from? (And not the skip)?

I have never gone Mattress shopping before. I went to sleepy's today and I got a deal for a Queen Memory mattress for $961.92 with delivery included; according to the invoice I'm saving $440.00 (I know it's probably not the best deal but I can always exchange it). Anyways, I haven't purchased it yet, I want to see my options but I did give a deposit of $85 to hold it until I make up my mind. the question is, what do I look for when it comes to buying a mattress? How do I know if I'm getting a good deal? I'm married and me and my wife are both under 25 and we come home late and leave home early so we don't really get the normal 6-8 hour sleep you are supposed to get. I bought a Sealy Posturpedic mattress from Grand's Home Furnishings. I have had the mattress for 2 weeks, and I can't sleep on it at all because it hurts my back even as I am sleeping on it. I work night shift, so I end up spending all day tossing and turning and unable to find a comfortable position to sleep. I called Grand's and they tell me that they do not have any kind of return or exchange policy for mattresses, and no kind of satisfaction guarantee at all. I thought that all mattresses had some kind of guarantee. So is there nothing I can do? moreVoting Question: How do you get the sag out of a newer style mattress?
You know the new kind with the pillow top that you don't flip over, but just rotate. We bought it new from Macys and it is one of the big brand and we have only had it for 3 years. The sag is getting so bad that i'm waking with my back hurting.I could totally understand if either my husband or I were obese, but we aren't, so is it just that they don't make mattresss that last. It was expensive enough that it should last. We had our old mattress for over 15 years and I thought that was about the normal time.Anyway, any suggestions would be great on getting the sag out. I bought sheets and a comforter for my dorm room in a twin size for my dorm but i found out that I have and extra long twin bed.... and I'm not sure If i have to return all of my sheets and mattress toppers and such. Advice?only reason why im not rushing back to the store is because the mattress is only 6 inches.. and i have a 2 inch topper. which means my mattress will only be about 8 inches. Since mattresses are built to be so fat, you would think that the sheets are made to fit up to 14 inch mattresses.apparently its a 6 inch difference length wise for mattresses so my mattress topper might be a bit short, but if i push the topper so that it covers the foot of the bed with a 6 inch clearance on the head of the bed, could the pillows cover it up enough!? moreVoting Question: what is the next best matress compared to Temperpedic but not as expensive...?

i got off the pill two months ago. my first period i was 5 days late and then only had my period for two days instead of four days like when on the pill. we made love twice in one day on a day i think i was ovulating right after i stopped the pill. here it is the second month and today i am 6 days late so i got a pregnancy test. it showed i was positive. was just curious how far along i could be if i am pregnant. how can i tell if i got pregnant right after stopping the pill the day i was ovulating (during the first month off the pill) or after the second time i was ovulating which i didn't keep track of. the first ovulation would make me about two months or so pregnant and the second ovulation around three weeks pregnant. the reason i thought i could be pregnant is because i had bought some jeans that were really loose on me and sagging and now they fit kind of snug, i get warmer at night time and also during the day but thought the night time might be because of a new temperapedic mattress we got, i get nauseated when i get hungry, my nipples hurt really bad when my husband tries to suck on them or play with them, i tend to have to pee more, and my loose bra now feels tight as well. how can you tell how far along you are? how accurate are pregnancy tests? do they ever say your pregnant when you're not?it also seems like i am alot thirstier. moreResolved Question: Should I Buy The Twin Or The Full Bed? 10 PTS!?

Hi, I just moved into a basement suite where there was no bed, so I simply bought a mattress and put it directly on the floor to serve as my bed for the time being. However, since the mattress is right on the floor (which is just a thin carpet over concrete), it is FRICKING COLD at night, and this is during the summer. Anyone have any suggestions to keep my bed warmer that aren't too expensive? P.S. "Buying a bed or a box spring" is too expensive, so please don't suggest that. moreResolved Question: I'm going shopping tomorrow for a firm mattress...?

I want to fill the empty space in the center of my room next to my bed. My bed doesn't lift up. It's just a bed frame on the floor and a mattress on top of it. Thats it. There is no under-bed. And I want a table in my room. that is short to put things on it when I'm laying in bed. Instead of putting it on the floor. Because when I put stuff on the floor or a drink on the floor, I end up knocking it over while I'm sleeping. Or someone knocks it over by accident. I'm tired of putting things on the floor. So I want a short table. And I can't find any on websites and stuff. I don't want to buy one. I want to learn how to make one. I know nothing of construction. I'm 15. I found a 2 yo mattress on craigslist previously owned by a woman who recently graduated. I mean I dont know what has gone on that bed or what is in it. I was thinking of spraying it down w/ Lysol and dusting it off to get rid of any germs, bacterias, viral organisms, etc but I dont know if it will get rid of serious things like STDs virus that may have strayed on the bed. Can I clean it myself or will I have to take it somewhere and get it cleaned professionally? I'm only 15 and don't have access to a vehicle so hopefully I can find a good way to clean it at home. My dad's completely useless so it's pointless asking him for help. My mom died almost 7 months ago due to liver and kidney failure. Also, how can I prevent this from happening in the future? I am in college and moving into my new apartment soon and trying to figure out what size bed I should get. I have had a twin my whole life and been fine with it and have had an xl twin for the past 2 years in the dorms and furnished apartment and been fine with it as well. A lot of people are saying how they can't wait to get a full or queen bed and it's making me think that maybe I will be more comfortable on the full bed. I have plenty of room for the full bed too and it really would be nice to have one. But then I have a comforter already that fits a twin and would probably look awkward on the full bed. I found a mattress that has a full bed that is only $10 more than the twin, but then I will also have to pay more for the frame and the sheets too. Also, I might have to buy a whole new comforter if my twin one will look too awkward. So basically, I want a full bed but it seems to be so much more expensive and I am trying to save some money and use it towards things that would be more beneficial. Since I have never had anything but a twin, I don't know if it is worth it. So what you think? Especially those in college, but really everyone's opinion would be appreciated.
