Open Question: My fiance and I are moving into our first apartment and can't quite afford a nice bed yet. Any ideas?

I have a very comfortable memory foam that I bought at Target for about $50 awhile back, but it is only about 2 inches thick. We don't want to spend the money for a nice bed frame quite yet, so does anyone have any suggestions for raising our "bed" so that we don't have to sleep right on the floor? more

Open Question: I'm washing my dog's bed in the washer !?!? :P?

ok so my dog peed her bed and it smelled HORRIBLE! she refused to sleep on i unzipped it-pulled out the foam bedding- got outside of it and put it in the wash on cold like the tag said. okay my dog is a black lab so there's ALOT of hair on it. will i break the machine?! the bed was so filthy that the water is literally brown! ewwww hahaha. my moms asleep and im afraid that the hair will get caught i the drain or something and break the machine! Open Question: Dorm bed- ways to make it more comfortable?

What combination of foam pads, mattress protectors (for bedbugs) and mattress pads/toppers can I use to make a nice, soft, comfy bed? And what order would I stack them in, i.e, protector and then foam pad and then sheets? Thanks!Would I put everything on top of the mattress and then put the mattress protector over it, or only put the protector over the actual mattress? more

I just bought a new foam mattress and it smells (been sleeping on the couch cause I can't stand the smell). Anyway is the smell toxic? I am just worried cause I was on a website called "my3cents.com" and someone posted that dormia foam mattresses (which is what I have) are toxic and aren't safe to sleep on. Is that true I am kind of freaking out about it. And just want to make sure. Cause if it is true I will be taking that bed back. more

Hi there I have a 7 year old female Himalayan named Honey, for the last three or four days she has been acting very strange, at first she wasn't eating as often as she used to. And now she won't eat or drink at all, when we try to give her water in a syringe she just throws it back up in a white foamy mess. We have been keeping her hydrated with an IV once per day (100mls) and I'm glad to see her peeing, but she's acting very strange, just tonight I brought her bed to her and she jumped in and peed in it ? Has anyone ever had these problems and any guesses as to what it is ? Resolved Question: How to clean foam mattress cover?

My daughter has a very nice quality foam mattress cover for her queen bed. On the day her waterproof cover was in the wash she peed in the bed, quite a lot. It soaked well through the foam but thankfully not into the mattress. My husband was the one home that night and he took the cover off and blotted with towels, and now it's been sitting for two days. How can I clean it? more

Resolved Question: Can anyone answer a question about memory foam beds?

I'm thinking of getting a pocket sprung memory foam mattress. The memory foam is the latest memory foam and is apparentely open cell so the foam doesn't absorb moisture or heat as it just flows through the foam. I have a really old mattress that was given to me buy an roommate when he left because i was sleeping on the floor for a year becuase i didnt have a bed after me and my boyfriend broke up. i think its a really comfortable mattress because its really firm but everyone else that lays on it says they dont sleep well on it. Resolved Question: Animal Seizure, Muscle Cramps, or Something Else?

I have a cat who is about 13 years old. He is a pure bread maine coon. Within the past few years he has developed a blood clot in his ear that, since it's been treated, has cauliflowered. He has also lost sight in one of his eyes. But, most recently he has begun making strange movements. If someone could help me by explaining what it actually is. He gives himself a bath like normal cats do at least 4 times a day. The strange movements is, what seems like a vicious itch on his back, then he starts shaking and falls over and i have to lay him flat and pet him gently to get him to stop. So far out of all the times he's done this he has fallen off the bed and off a computer desk. He doesn't salivate or foam at the mouth and he doesn't loose control of his bowels. That makes me think it's not a seizure. But of course I'm no expert. If someone could help it would be very appreciated.Thank you all so much for such fast feedback. more

Resolved Question: Replacing a box spring with something else?

We have a king size bed that is made of two mattresses pushed together. They are memory foam and were given to my husband and I as a wedding gift from my grandma. The only thing I don't like is the fact we have to have a box spring under them. I like lower beds, and I am wondering if there is a thinner box spring available, or can we use a large piece of plywood? Any suggestions? They are extremely good quality, so I don't want to do anything to compromise that. more

I drank some water and turned up the air conditioner. I started to beat the dummy up again. After an hour of training, the dummy was sliced; foam came out from its sides. I sighed and put my foil in my foil cabinet. Enough fencing for now, I thought. I ran into my room upstairs and closed it. My room was Japanese themed. My bed was red and black. The covers were decorated with Japanese letters. The walls were painted red. The top of it, black. My computer on the left, with a couple of books. I went into my closet. I changed from my purple spaghetti sleeved shirt and into a long sleeved red dress. I ran down stairs and ate some breakfast; an omelet and four pieces of bacon. I ate it quickly and put the dishes into the dishwasher. I took my black coat from the closet and my car keys. I walked to my sleek black BMW. I sighed as I arrived at the meeting. Resolved Question: Bed and Mattress - Squeaky Bed, can I stack another mattress on top?

1st, here is the bed in question if it matters: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/20120582 I use that bed with a slatted bed base and a spring mattress. The bed is pretty squeaky though when I toss or turn in the bed. Can I stack a foam mattress (or any mattress) on top of it to prevent squeakiness? Will it still be comfortable and be OK to use for a few years? more

If I eat at around 8 pm what time should I go to bed? Is it ok if I sleep at 11? I can't eat any earlier because I'm fasting for the month of Ramadan I generally don't that much just a small bowl of soup( those foam bowl) and alot of salad maybe a date or two and some fruits but that's if I still feel hungry a little bit later. So how long should i wait before sleeping I mean I know it's not good for you to sleep right after because it's then stored as fat and I don't want that so any advice? thnx in advance! <3 more

I took the plastic off my bed because i'm a really light sleeper any little noise bothers me. Its a brand new king size memory foam mattress and i don't want to ruin it. I was just wondering how often does a first time mom have her water break while she's sleeping. Resolved Question: Does anyone know of a way to prevent mold in a Sleep Number bed?

I take it apart about every other month or more if it has been humid outside. I put the foam pieces outside on my deck in the sun and I spray them with Lysol spray. Inside, I spray the air mattresses with a mix of bleach and water, let them sit a couple of hours and then wash them down with detergent and water. I then spray them with Lysol before putting the bed back together again. I've tried letting the Lysol completely dry before putting it back together and I've also left it still wet when putting it back together, either way, I still find mold every single time I open the bed. I have menopause so I have terrible night sweats which is what is causing the moisture. This is a HUGE project every time I do it but I have arthritis in my hips and the Sleep Number bed is wonderful for that so I really don't want to get rid of it. I was thinking about putting some charcoal pieces in there to absorb some of the moisture. Any suggestions? more

Ok I got a dog a chiuhaha mix . And he is 6 or 5 years old. And since he was 4 or 5 he startrd to shake like a seisure . The first time he did that he was shaking uncontrolably and he had foam in his mouth. Now he only has shaking and after he has them he gets rreaaaly scared. And hides under a table or chair. And he gets confused and falls over things like if he is on a bed or sofa. So wat can this be??? Help can it be fixed !!Also my dog has these every 2 or 3 months more

I'm interested in purchasing a new bed and any advise would be greatly appreciated. Here is my situation. I am a 23 year old male around 180 lbs. I currently sleep on a water bed (though I'd hardly call it sleeping). I have slept in this water bed for over 5 years. I work 45 plus hours a week standing on concrete all day. I get off work and have back and knee pain from standing all day. All I want is to come home and fall asleep in comfort. When ever I get into bed in always takes me AT LEAST 2 hours to fall asleep even if I'm dead tired. I can never seem to get comfortable. I like to sleep on my back but I always seems to toss and turn for hours before finally falling asleep. I always wake up feeling unrested. I've looked online and there are many brands: serta, sealy, simmons, memory foam stuff, blah blah blah etc... I have no idea whats right for me. Money is not really an option any more. I'll do whatever it takes. What bed is right for me??? firm, soft, memory foam HELPPPPPPP! I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing. Voting Question: Fix sagging mattress?

I have a bed that has foam on top and it seems that its starting to sag or leave an imprint in it after a few years. This happened to me before and I was able to have the mattress taken back without an issue. The problem is that they only do this once, so I tried a new different mattress and I'm seeing the same results. I wake up in the morning and usually have really stiff back pain due to sleeping on the thing. I found that if I stick a wedge pillow in in I can stop some of the tightness and pain the following morning. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to fix or stop the back pain? I was thinking about getting a mattress topper, but wasn't sure if that would work or where to start with it. more

i thought my dog had fleas and i heard about johnsons 4fleas tablets i heard they make the dog itch a little more but its ok. so i bough them gave he half a pill in the afternoon and one before i went to bed. i woke up hearing her scratching really badly and she was biting herself and this morning she ran out the back and started to vomit foam and shes having trouble breathing like somethings in her nose, idk if its just a ccoincidenceor if she got a bug when i walked her yesterday or something she ate. more

Last night I went to bed without a problem, while I was sleeping I had a nightmare, In my dream a man was bleeding out of his eyes/ears/ and nose, he was also foaming out of the mouth, he had me pinned down and was stabbing me repeatedly, Nightmares don't usually scare me so easily, but I couldn't even close my eyes after that dream, so after about 30 minutes I couldn't stay awake and fell asleep again, and I had the exact same dream, I woke up even more scared than the first time and decided to stay up, after awhile I fell asleep again, this time I dreamt and 2 friends were running from something (the 1st friend I haven't even spoken to in close to a year, and the other one passed away a few months ago) we jumped over a fence and I fell to the ground, they kept running and when I got up I saw them fall into the ground and could just see them sinking and their arms flailing around, I managed to pull them out and when I did I woke up and it was morning, I'm really tired now but having a difficult time falling asleep, I'm trying to go to bed but can't stop thinking about lastnight. I'm looking for a new mattress set and my head is spinning. I went to 3 different mattress places today, and almost purchased a Sleep for Life bed for $1600 (queen size set). It was so comfortable in the store, but I wasn't ready to drop that money that moment. I went home and researched it online and found sooooooooo many people were completely disappointed with this type of mattress. I have a bad back, so I definitely need a plush bed with some type of foam pillow top. Any suggestions on comfortable, yet affordable, mattress sets?I always research something before I purchase it. I check consumer reports, and other online consumer reviews of products. If I am going to spend $1700 for a mattress, I'm definitely going to see whether other people love it or hate it. Resolved Question: Where can I find a cheap platform bed for a twin xl?

I just got a new Twin XL Memory Foam Mattress, but I am having the HARDEST time trying to find a good platform bed for it. Apparently Twin XL has a very limited selection. The cheapest I could find was about $350, but i'm not paying that since the mattress itself was only $275. Just something simple to hold the mattress, it doesn't have to have storage or anything. Voting Question: My 12 yo lab prefers to sleep on the concrete floor, bought several beds, how do I get him to stop?

His previous owners had a concrete kennel where he slept during the day and some nights. Generally they took him inside at night. I have bought a memory foam mattress, large down substitute bed, the other large beds sold at costco. He will get on the bed, stay there until I leave and then sleep on the concrete. We have a large backyard, and he will still sleep on the concrete patio. This can't be good for him, he is an old dog with arthritis and hip problems. Ive been vomiting the past 2 months every morning ive been to the hospital a few times they gave me an IV with fluids and liquid gravol last week i was throwing up coffee ground specs not too many so i went to emerge they took my blood did a urine test did an ultrasound and pelvic exam and found nothing all the doctor did at the hospital yesterday was give me another prescription called Nexium im sick of all these unwanted side effects with each pill i feel helpless really not sure what to do Im also on Ran-Domperidone and he wanted me to stay on that as well what are some home remedies that are cheap and easy for me ? I also try to load my pillows to give me a lift when i go to bed its almost like a burp vomit with little or no warning whats going on with me? How do I cure this without being extremely ill from pills ? I have recently been printing my photography prints on fabric. I really liked the print and wanted to incorporate it into my bedroom, and decided to to stuff it with foam (anti flammable) and make it into a dog cushion bed. I've made quite a few, in different depths - some can fit inside a crate and others more like a dog bed. A few of my friends were really interested in them and suggested I start selling them at a local car boot - just as a hobby. I'd really like to do this, but I don't want to sell pet products unless I am satisfied that they are safe. How can I do that? I changed from my purple spaghetti sleeved shirt and into a long sleeved red dress. I ran down stairs and ate some breakfast; an omelet and four pieces of bacon. Resolved Question: Can I sleep on my new mattress topper tonight??

I bought a 4" Spa Sensations Memory Foam mattress topper and it arrived this morning. It came tightly compressed to about 1 1/2 ". I've been letting it air out on a flat surface in my bed room with fans and fresh air all day/evening. I expected a strong chemical smell, but there was very little and it's completely gone now. I really need to sleep on it tonight and besides, I have no where else I can put it. However, the instructions say to let it sit for up to 48 hours so it can fully expand. I just measured it and it's almost at 4" now. Has anyone else bought one and slept on it the first night? I'm not going to like ruin it or anything by sleeping on it, am I? more

My skin type: oily I guess, currently have 3 acne on my face + many light scars :( Cleansers I have: - Neutrogena Fresh Foaming cleanser make up remover - Neutrogena oil free grapefruit cleanser - St Ives Olive cleanser Every morning: I wake at 06:30 everyday and wash my face with warm water only then apply toner and lotion. I don't use cleanser on the morning and I don't know if this is ok? Uni day (3 days a week): Clean my face as usual on the morning then I have toner then BB cream with SPF then light powder. Uni Day 1 - back home at 2 p.m. Uni Day 2 - back home at 12 p.m. Uni Day 3 - back home at 5:15 p.m. On Day 3, I always shower at 7 p.m. so I cleanse my face at that time but what about Day 1 & 2? I always remove the make up immediately when I come home cos I know make up is bad for skin. But if I have cleaned (make up remover + toner + lotion) my face at 12 p.m. or 2 p.m. Do I have to use cleanser (+ toner + lotion) to wash my face again at night (I usually brush my teeth and clean my face at 7:30 p.m. and bed at 10 p.m.)? more

Hello, It's not a memory foam mattress, but a topper and it smells awful! It goes through to my pillow and duvet. Anything that I put on my bed smells so I have to sleep in my sister's bed. I've aired the foam out twice, washed its cover, washed all my sheets and pillow cases, but it still smells just as awful. We are going on holiday soon and have got a travel cot and was wondering if we should try our 10 month little girl in it for a couple of nights befor we go as she has never slept in it befor we have put her in it in the day to play in once and she did not seem to like it much. I dont want to get on holiday to find she hates being in it as we have never had her in our bed and worry that if we had to do put her in with us it will make it hard for her to go in her cot on her own when we got back home.(plus me and my partner need time for ourselfs if you no what i mean). So let's say I wear a product (such as foundation, sunscreen, moisturizer) on my face that clogs pores (comedogenic) and isn't oil free. My skin is is mildly sensitive. I'm a teenager so I break out a lil anyway. So far, I've found that Organic Wear Tinted Moisturizer broke me out. I'm disappointed since I looove Physician's Formula. I've ordered a pocket sprung round mattress 240cm in diameter. I am being told that because it will have to be bent to fit through the door frame (196cm x 71cm), the risk of damaging the mattress is high. Is that that the manufacturer being overly cautious or is there a real risk of damage? Any other suggestions / options for a mattress that definitely wouldn't be damaged when bent?
