Ok so I bought a futon like a year and a half ago to use at my primary bed. Well from the start it wasn't incredibly comfortable, but now it's flattened out and it's almost like I'm just sleeping on the bars. Hey-- Okay, I have one of those mattress toppers that is like the memory foam stuff. The only problem with it is hair gets stuck in and it is a pain to keep pulling strands of hair off. I don't know how the hair gets there, it just does (I put sheets over the pad). So, does anyone else have this problem and know a solution to this?no, it is not a mattress pad like a cloth or plastic thing going over the mattress. It's like one of those yellow colored topper things that sits on top of the mattress made of memory foam. Hair ends up trapped in the foamy stuff itself and just pulling the hair out is a hard and tedious task. Most reviews from target customers say that the pads are great for improving mattresses (even firm ones). I'm torn and dont know anyone personally who has used either. Well to start out, I'm going to be purchasing a 4'' "Spa Sensations" memory foam mattress pad for my bed. It was rated by consumer reports as a top buy. The only problem I have with memory foam is that I've heard that it can retain heat and some people feel it makes for a hotter nights sleep, and I personally seem to get hot at night when I sleep. QVC sold a memory foam topper with a "Coolmax Cover" that helps for a cooler nights sleep, but they are sold out. Is there some sort of mattress pad on the market that would do the same trick as a "Coolmax cover" (which is said to "help wick moisture away from the body")? I would put this type of a mattress pad on top of the 4'' Spa Sensations memory foam pad. Also, I would need to purchase new deeper sheets for my bed. Is there any certain type of fabric that helps for a cooler nights sleep? P.S. I know I could just turn down the A/C but I'm trying to keep electricity usage down, and my roommates don't want a freezing house. I have a memory foam mattress topper that was vacuum packed in its original box, and when I took it out originally, it expanded to many, many times its original vacuum packed size. I live far away and need to ship it to myself now, but now that it's not vacuum packed and shrunk, I can't get it much smaller than the largest of my suitcases. Is there any place that I can go to get it industrially shrink wrapped or vacuum packed (preferably in the DFW area) so that I can get it down to at least a fraction of its original size? The home vacuum sealers won't do the trick; this mattress pad is much too strong and large for what they are intended to do.
