Hello I just recently bought a queen size memory foam mattress that's ten inches thick and a platform bed to go along with it. I like the set up quite a bit but the only problem is that memory foam mattress, being very light, slides around quite easily on the platform bed. I am getting a queen size memory foam mattress, with the box-spring/platform delivered. I have a bed frame that worked for our full sized mattress, and it is adjustable, so I just fixed it to accommodate queen size. It is basically a square...support along the outer perimeter of the mattress, but nothing in the middle. Do I need to put in some slats across that open space? Will the platform/box-spring support the mattress- or will that sag in the middle over time? It worked fine for a full, but since there will be more "unsupported" space with the queen, will that lack of bars/slats affect the structure of set? We finally buy our new condo for $50k. We would like to buy new bed and we can't decide. We hear so much good words about Tempur Pedic so we thought we could save for it. My boyfriend and I have been together for about a year and a half, and for about 8 months now, his big black lab has been sleeping on the bed with him. He got the dog after we were together, so I was there before he got the dog, so its not like im trying to change things before me. In the beginning when we first got together, we went out and chose and comforter set together and a memory foam mattress. I felt really special when we were able to pick out our beds and bedding, but now the bed is stained from dog pee and there is dog hair everywhere. The comforter set is ripped because of the dog and I just dont feel that the bed is anything special anymore because of how he allowed the dog to tear it up and pee on it. I think that in a relationship, the bed is a sanctuary, a place where you can share your feelings and cuddle, but now everytime I even sit on the bed, I feel disgusted because everything is so dirty, but what hurts more is that he let it get this way, just so his dog can be on the bed. We have just recently gotten over an argument about the dog sleeping with us, I told him that she is way too big and dirty and that the bed should be shared between just us two. Now the issue is just the dog's unsanitaryness and the idea that romance has been lost because the bed is not special anymore. I dont know what to do, I've suggested that the dog not sleep on it, but nothing changes, I also suggested to buy the dog a bed, but I dont want to waste money buying it to find that she is still on the bed. I rarely even sleep over anymore because of this issue. I feel less important to him now because of this situation. Not to mention that the dog pees on the bed about every other day. I need help on how to go about telling him this without it turning into an argument. Hey everyone! Im pretty low on money right now, but i need to buy a new, queen-sized mattress and box spring set. I was thinking i would buy a set that is reasonably cheap - nothing expensive. Then buy a memory-foam topper to balance out the hard mattress. I figure this will be far less expensive than buying a high-end mattress set which can run into the thousands. I'm trying to send my husband a care package. I got a crap load of stuff and I need to know which is the best way to ship it. I'll probably ship everything priority so it's going to cost me an arm and a leg anyway. But I was wondering if it is better to ship in one LARGE HEAVY box (like 2 foot by 2 foot) or multiple smaller boxes. See I bought him a comforter set and a 4" memory foam mattress topper, the topper weighs about 30 lbs (maybe more) and the comforter set weighs about 10.. I also bought him a bunch of food and misc stuff. Should I ship in 2 or 3 boxes or would it be cheaper to just send 1 box. Also, what is the largest box I can ship priority? I am buying my first mattress set and have no idea what I am doing. I would love to have some advice as to what kind of mattress is comfortable, durable AND reasonable. I have an all red and black theme in my bedroom. I have an almost black rosewood king sized bed being made. I plan to buy a memory foam mattress, but need linens to cover it. Honestly, price is no object, I want the best. Only red and/or black. I would prefer the comforter/duvet be mostly/completely red, to stand out against the dark wood. An abstract pattern or oriental design would be perfect. I have checked overstock, amazon, bed bath and beyond, and the other sites that pop up in google. Well im 16 now and i have sleeping problems and i was told i was allowed to take nytol and he reccomended it even. I heard you are only supposed to use 1 box just to help you get into a normal sleeping pattern but the problem is nytol have helped me drift off every night that a still use it and it has been nearly a year now (about 8 months i've been taking them) I dont see how it would be dangerous i only take 1 tablet a night (its a one a night box, not the 2 a night box) There has been about 4 times when i have taken 2 when im extra tired but it dident really have any extra effect. I have been recently putting great effort into getting a great sleep. I have purchased a memory foam pillow and mattress topper set, I have looked up about lucid dreaming because i want to start having them and soon i will buy some sleeping eye masks. Because all my life i hae had disturbed sleep and since i got to the age of 15 thats when it started getting really bad and it would take me like 2 and a half hours to get to sleep. And now as i have been taking nytol for soo long now when i dont take nytol for a night it will litrally take me about 6 hours of uncomfortable moving and scratching my itchy body parts, fidgeting and just trying to sleep and avoiding thinking until i would drift off. I ordered a size bigger than what my bed is to ensure that it fit ok, it goes off the edge just a little bit though..would it be okay if I just cut the extra topper off so that it fit my mattress? Also, do I put the topper on top of my mattress, then just put my regular bed sheet on top of the topper? or do I need to buy a new sheet set for the topper? So i've had a new mattress for about a year now, and since I got it I've had a big problem with one of our housecats. For some strange reason she sees fit to pee on my bed from time to time. It's odd behavior for her considering ever since we've had her in the house I've never known her to go anywhere but the litterbox. At first i just assumed she wasnt used to the mattress since it was new and she was trying to be territorial, but its gotten alot more frequent lately. I love the cat to death honestly, but its getting to be a big nuisance. I can't just shut my door to keep her out cause my room is in the back of the house and it's constantly burning up, but im tired of smelling cat urine (which smells like burnt peanut butter to me...) I've had the good fortune of the urine just soaking into my comforter and sheets and barely grazing the top of my memory foam. I can get it out of the foam easily with stain and odor removers, but im not feeling up to replacing the whole set of sheets again anytime soon. Just the other day we had a new cat in the room, and of course, earlier today i found a moist surprise on my bed. I really hate keeping her out of my room since she's a really loving cat, but its just gotten to be too much, and i'd really like to know any safe idea's to keep a cat out of a certain room. I would go with mothballs but we've got a small dog who tries to eat anything on the floor so that eliminates that solution. Also, does anybody know any good ways to remove the stink of cat urine? I'd really appriciate any kind of home made remedies. And its not like i can just throw the mattress out, i dont have that kind of money to burn. It said to let the pad lay out on the floor for two days before using so it can air out , and get puffy. This wasnt a good option for me, b/c I wanted to suprise my husband with the pad, and bedtime was only about 3 hours away. the instructions aren't very clear. but there is the actual foam. the cover slip thing. and then there is like a sheet that the foam was wrapped in when i first opened it. is this part of the packaging or do i need to keep it. It's a memory foam mattress that is made by Simmons. The Queen set is $2599, but the floor model is $800. It looks in fine condition. And because its foam and no springs, there is not much "wear and tear". The tag on it says it was manufactured in August 2007. It's so comfy, and the price is right, but what if there are STDs in the bed? He says its never been used except on the floor, and so thousands of people could have slept in it. This was only my 2nd night sleeping on our sleep number bed and while it felt great when I got in and I fell asleep quickly and slept through the night, my back still felt a bit stiff in the morning ( though nothing like it used to). We had put a topper on our old mattress before we got this and it did seem to help some, so now we have the sleep number with a 3" thick layer of memory foam. I just hope I did the right thing. I'm 25 years old. Not too heavy set but a few extra pounds. I'm a stout guy. anyway I've been having this lower back pain just above my butt. It feels more like pressure. It hurts so bad sometimes that it's hard to breath and i definitely can't move. The pain only lasts for a minute or so then goes away but the aches do stay for a little bit. I try and stand/sit up straight as much as possible but it seams the more i do it the more pain. I'm pretty sure it has to do with my bed. I've the temporpedic memory foam mattress. Ok! So I'm planning on purchasing a new bedroom set. I haven't decided on the mattress yet. WHY? Because I'm not sure which mattress best suits me. I've considered many factors: I have slight back aches, I'm a stomach sleeper, need a mattress that WILL NOT adjust to body temperature, don't wanna toss and turn and bother my fiance while she's getting her beauty rest, and a mattress that's not so pricy but yet, at the same time durable.
