Open Question: Do you have to re-make a futon bed each night?
Im re-doing my room and would love a futon but it seems like such a hassle to put sheets on every night to remove them in the morning, no? :P Is it not possible to use the futon cover as a base sheet? Any info you can provide would be appreciated :D Also, I found an affordable futon but there are mixed reviews about its comfort. Obviously people will have different interpretations of comfort, but is 4" too thin? Hi, I've already researched the other answers on how to get your cat to stop peeing on the furniture, so please, I need different answers. My situation is a bit more complicated. First of all, my cat is already fixed (spayed). So that's not the issue. Here's the story: I have 2 female cats that get along wonderfully- both spayed. They are inside cats & we have a dog outside. One cat ran outside (my 3 year old left the screen door open too long) a couple days ago & my dog decided to rough her up. She's fine, but she did get a minor injury. I'm pretty sure my other cat is reacting to her friend not feeling well (by peeing on our futon). She's done it before when I've changed her food. Seems like she does it when she's upset, etc. Other than these few incidences, she's always used the litter box. As u can imagine, I've tried spraying the soiled areas with special spray (It's called Dumb Cat) and it's supposed to break up the enzymes, etc. I also put a waterproof mattress cover over the futon. So my question is, can anyone suggest any other products or sprays that work REALLY well? I need her to avoid the area. I've heard "feliway" is good. Should I thoroughly clean the area (again) with a better product & then spray the stuff that keeps cats OFF the area? Do you think she'll go find a new spot to pee on? I know, there's no way of knowing. I'd squirt her with the squirt bottle IF i was able to catch her doing it....I've only seen her do it once. I have 2 kids & I'm not always home, so it's kinda hard to stand around & watch her. Thank u in advance for suggestions!! Please, no rude comments from "dog people". I love dogs too. I have had this cat for about three months. She was a tiny stray when I found her next to the dumpster and I nursed her back to health. I have another cat who is older and bigger and the older cat trained her how to use the litter box I think. Either way, she was using it, but she was only using it to poop. She wouldn't use it when she had to pee. She would pee on the linoleum or on the wood. So, I took her to the vet and she was diagnosed with a UTI. I gave her antibiotics and everything cleared up, but she still would not use the litter box to pee. So, I tried to retrain her by putting her in the bathroom with a litter box, her bed, her food and water, and some toys. She would still use the litter box to poop, but started using the bathrub to pee in. I don't know what to do and NOW she is peeing AND pooping outside of the litter box all the time. And it isn't just on the linoleum, it's everywhere. on couches, beds, floors, carpet, chairs. I have completely shampood the carpets to get up the smell so she won't smell it, I mop my floor every day and every time she pees, I clean out the litter box twice a day. I have picked up the poop and put it in the litter box to try to show her that this is where she goes. I have even tried that Kitten Attract litter that is supposed to make them want to use the litter box. I have no idea what to do, and I am sorry, but I am not one of those people who will stand by and clean up pee and poop fifteen times a day for the next fifteen years. If this doesn't stop, I have a friend that has a farm with lots of outside cats and I will have to bring her there and she will have to be an outside cat. She is very loving and very sweet and so I don't know if she would be happy there, but in the past three months I have spent over $600 in vet bills, medicine, multiple litter boxes and different types of cat litter to try to figure out what the problem is. She has ruined my futon cover, my comforter, and several quilts because I just cannot get the smell out. Does anybody know what I should do??? I am willing to try anything at this point. Could it be just a behavior problem having both cats in the house? I am re-decorating my living room, the curtains are a lace burgundy (very gorgeous)...we have a futon with wood side arms the color is beige (will be getting a burgundy cover so it'll be burgundy) Our coffee table is a burgundy wood with black sides....television stand is a honey hardwood color, along with our hardwood floors. I have no idea how I am going to ever make my room look good. The walls right now are bright pink, and at one end of my room the ceiling is very high and my room shape is awkward to put posters all the way up there. My carpet is pink. I have a tall white wardrobe and desk. I can't re-paint my room or get rid of the furniture. I have a futon bed so I can't put a comforter or anything on it. Ok. Lastnight I went to sleep around 4am and I've been awake since 7am. I constantly have this feeling when I am laying down that bugs are crawling on me. I am constantly scratching and checking all the spots I scratch to see if there's a bug or a bug bite. Then I start seeing bugs in my mind, spiders especially, and I get so scared that I can't close my eyes anymore. Lastnight I even got up to lint roll my whole futon. Since I dont have a cover on it, I can't wash it. And I wash my blanket often. But I still constantly fear bugs. Especially since my friends told me the average person eats 8 spiders in their sleep throughout their life. So, not only am I constantly afraid of bugs crawling and biting me, I'm also scared that I'm going to eat one! It's totally getting in the way of sleep, and I want to know whether the doctor can fix my phobia or somehow put it under control? Or will the doc just give me sleeping pills? I found websites that were "googled and searched and looked at" on both of our home computers. at first, when I asked him what the search was he denied it and lied right to my face... I ignored him the rest of the night and he slept in other room as I couldn't sleep due to what my mind was telling me.. Next moring,while he was at work - I look on other computer and low and behold, find more sites and then found two searches for a escort in vegas... that is what set me off ...I left the house and wrote nasty notes all over the house... to make this long long story short - he did do this when I met him ( was on dating sites etc) and after we were dating seriously, I made him stop all his memberships and delete everything - all was fine...we got married and have been having a great time ( so I thought). We also have been TTC and that also has been an issue for past two years - gee, now I know why. I'm at a loss and don't know what to do ....when confronted with me knowing, he went into a "child-like" behavior throwing his hands up and shaking all over saying "I don't kow what to do...I don't know what to do"...and threw himself onto the futon in a child like temper - it was the most bizarre thing I've ever seen. I made him understand that he needs help as its a situation spiraling out of control and he agreed and has called like 5-6 different doctors/therapist to which only 2 have called him back...our health insurance gave him 2 names but only 1 in in service and yet hasn't called him back ( hoping the sessions are covered by insurance as can't afford $100 a week ) ..He was researching the subject and seems to think that he stems from when he first masterbated at age 18 ( he is now 48) and so thinks its just a quick fix to go and someone will help him and all be fine - he doesnt get that it will take time. The music is coming from a twenty year old Toshiba sound system linked up with a ten year old CD player, which is in turn all linked up to two twenty year old (but still very good) speakers. One speaker, the left one, is sitting on a wardrobe just to the left of the Toshiba sound system, the CD player, and the other speaker. The Toshiba sound system is sitting in the centre of a large cabinet/cupboard storage device which is otherwise filled with strange and forgotten books about everything from DIY to the way that spirits enter the netherworld, and several old cameras. Just to the right of the cabinet/cupboard is the right speaker, which is lying on its side in order to hold up a small 10" LCD television, which is linked up to a cheap and cheerful Freeview set top box. Continuing to the right, there is a table which is laiden with plants and such. There isn't anything to the right of that except for a wall, which is mainly covered with a large window. The top slit of the window is open, and a gentle warm breeze is sifting through it. After the wall with the window, another wall begins, parralel to the wall with the Toshiba on it. There's a Futon/Sofa arrangement here, in Futon bed form, an old radio that can pick up all wavelengths, and then a large cupboard filled with trousers, vests, boots, socks, Hawaiian shirts, and boxer pants. Then there's a door, another cupboard, and a fish tank on top of the cupboard that is also holding the left speaker. Filling most of the centre of the room is the Futon bed. I got a futon mattress and pillows from a house with a cat. they had some cat hair and dander on them so I took the covers off them and washed them twice (cold water as instructed on the tags of the mattress covers and pillow covers). But I can still visibly see cat hair on them. Will I be allergic to them still? Hi everyone, Thursday Jones has been urinating on my futon and I'm at my wit's end. I did ask this question a day or so ago and got an answer about mousetraps (which I'm afraid might hurt him, so I won't do), but I'm hoping other folks might have other ideas. I have gone so far as to email a local rescue to begin the process of putting TJ in the "owner foster" program, where he'll continue to live with me while the rescue lists him until a new owner is found. Here are the things I have tried to solve the couch-peeing problem: Veterinary exam and urinalysis -- Yes, he has a MILD UTI, and he did get an antibiotic injection for it. This was nearly 5 days ago. Since then, he's peed on the couch SIX more times! I thought surely I'd see a little improvement by now. Besides, this recent jig of him peeing on the couch hasn't been the only time. He's done this I'd say every couple of weeks for the past 2-4 months. He is neutered, and to my knowledge there are not any intact cats in the apartment complex. I've cleaned the couch with Nature's Miracle, hoping to remove any left-behind kitty smells. I have washed the decorative covers and replaced them SEVERAL times, cycling through my 3 covers. Since I put on the most recent clean futon cover, I found a plastic carpet-protector and laid it spiky-side up on the couch. A couple of days ago I left him here alone for a few hours with the carpet-protector on the couch, and came home to find a puddle on the plastic carpet runner! Clearly, having his paws poked by little plastic spikes does not bother him. In my 500 sq. ft apartment I have ONE cat and TWO litterboxes which are scooped EVERY day. The addition of the second litterbox just happened a couple of weeks ago after the LAST time he peed on the couch. One of the litterboxes is situated immediately next to the couch. It is a covered litterbox. The other litterbox is in an opposite corner, uncovered. I use Tidy Cats litter. I tried a feliway plug-in for about a month until the little oil canister ran out. I have not bothered to buy a refill, but I intend to go out today to get more feliway. (Should I get a diffuser refill or the feliway spray?) My veterinarian/boss has suggested possible behavioral medications -- i.e., buspirone or fluoxitine. I haven't done this yet but am seriously considering it. The past couple of days he's been staying in his "room" with litter box, food, water, toys, and bed when he's not supervised. It's the only way I can come home confident that he hasn't peed on anything. Is there ANYTHING ELSE I can do to get him to stop this?! I recently got a futon from my friend, who bought it from a garage sale... Something inside it stinks really bad. I have a heightened sense of smell due to partial hearing loss. Even tho I can hear again, I can still smell EVERYTHING nasty with in a mile I swear! My fiancé says he can't smell it, I only smell it while I'm on the futon, it smells like I'm sitting in a garbage pile. I can't stand it anymore! I removed the cover, it doesn't say what materials it is made from, but it does say dry clean only. I don't have time for that, I want to clean it now! I've suffered for 3 months already. For the last 3 years there's been something happening in my bedroom. For example one night I was lying asleep in my bed. It was fairly early in the day. Around 7:40ish because me and my parents had been moving into the new house and I was exhausted by moving boxes. Later on that night around 11:00 I woke up with a start only to feel something moving under my futon. At first I panicked because I thought I accidentally placed my futon on top of my cat Cupcake. So I moved it out of the way and notice there was nothing there. I slowly placed my futon back on the floor. At the time I was still sleepy and my head feel right back on my pillow. Two days later it happened again but instead of going back to sleep I got up and switched on my top room light. Mind you that we were still moving in and most of my stuff hadn't came yet so there weren't a lot of things in my room. Just the futon, my sword, and a box of clothes. Because my room was so small it was ALWAYS warm in there but I was freezing my ass off that night (I slept in thick knee-high socks that night in summer!) I was about to switch back off my light when I heard this strange sound. I can really explain it but it was a mix of groaning, deep laughing, and a one-person whisper. It's true that it did freak me out at first but my Dad was always into horror films and he usually laughed at them for some odd reason.... Anyway I went out into the hall way and put my ear up the restricted hallway. (Restricted meaning the parents hallway.) I heard nothing from there. Being an only child I never really had to worry about siblings making noise when I slept. But again I ignored this an fell asleep in my room again. That next night IT happened. It was the same thing sound and movement and it was colder than the other night. I ran to switch on my light. Again I didn't see anything. I got irritated and switched the light off. I think the time was around 2:00. When I laid back in my futon I noticed my sheet was slightly wet at the edge. I thought it was sweat or my own drool. I laid my head back on my pillow and it was wet too so I simply flipped it over and tried falling asleep on my back instead. But that when I felt something cold and clammy on my skin. I freaked an jumped up whilst pulling my sheet off to see what was it. There was nothing. At that point I didn't want to sleep in my room anymore so I got my futon and sheet and headed to the guest room. It is eleven p.m. and Angela Simmons is straining her hazelish colored eyes at the glowing computer screen. She saves and exits her potential novel word document and shut off her computer. Swiveling around in her office chair she pauses to observe her 7 year old son Tj who is snoring softly on the futon covered in a Thomas the train blanket and clothed in blue footsie pajamas. Angela switches off the table lamp scoops her young son into her arms and carries him down the dark and narrow hallway. With her left hands he pushes open her son’s bedroom door and lays him on his yellow oak framed twin sized bed. She covers him in a quilt, kisses his forehead and trudges back to her own room. The television set is still on blaring some paid programming show. Eddy is on his side of the bed snoring aggressively. Angela sighs opens her dresser and fishes around for a pajama top. My cat had her first litter on the futon on the covered back porch last night. She must have gotten out somehow. My question is, is it a good idea to move them inside? Ok, I live in a apartment and which ever tenant used the washer before me obviously put too much powder detergent in the washer. I washed my futon cover and when I got it out it was covered in light powder detergent residue (I only use liquid detergent so I know its not from me measuring wrong). So far iv been able to get most of the residue off with a damp cloth but was wondering if anything else will help remove it? This a marvelously sedate–but very variegated–piece-constructed cotton futon cover. Each of the cotton fragments that comprise this piece measures about 3 1/2″ x 13″ or 9 cm x 33 cm and the overall size is 69″ x 66″ or 175 cm x 167.5 cm. If you notice some light colored edges along some of the horizontal pieces, this is something interesting: these pieces were taken from the end of a bolt of kimono cotton; the entirety of this futon cover was pieced from fairly lightweight, recycled kimono cottons. This futon cover is completely hand-stitched and was probably made around the first quarter of the 20th century. I think this embodies a masculine kind of beauty and is just stunning overall.
