News have mentioned something about bed bugs and anything on the news is serious. I live in Chicago and they have said we are one of the most bed bug infestation cities in the country. My mom called an exterminator and he will be coming Saturday. I can't wear my clothes or anything and i have to clear out any cloth in my room and stick them in bags so i can wash them and what not. Now, we haven't seen any bug until today when my mom went into my room while it was dark and used a flashlight to search on my mattress and found one. That's when i knew i really had them. I decided i am throwing away the mattress even though i don't need to but when it comes to bugs, i panic and get super grossed out. I figured get a smaller new bed with the mattress, box spring, pillow covers and i'll feel a bit more safe. I just need to know any important information or help. Anything. i've done a lot of research but i feel like i'm reading the same thing over and over I would appreciate it tons more

I don't know what it is about the girl, she can do anything she wants. It wouldn't surprise me if I found her on top of the house. This child is going to kill herself! She can climb on top of the changing table (I got rid of it), she can get into her high chair by herself. I put the dresser in the closet. There is nothing in her room but a mattress on the floor and a bunch of toys. Then, she got on my desk like an hour ago which has to be by far the most impressive thing. The only way I think she could do it is if she got on the tower first, which even then took a good bit of muscle to get up there. I just have to keep an eye on her at ALL times. Like now, I have her strapped in the stroller. It's a good place for her! The bed bug situation has gotten out of control. I rented out my house for a year when my sister's husband died and moved in with her, long story. I could only stand it for 4 months. Rented a 1 bdrm apt for 8 months till my tenant's lease ran out. When I took posession of my house it was loaded with bedbugs. We are talking 4 double hand fulls of the things in one bedroom. I paid an exterminator almost $1,000.00 total and was still having to call him back to exterminate again. I personally think this is a racket and we are being bilked money. They spray and within 30 days you are calling and asking them to come again. The trouble with that is that it was getting increasingly more difficult to get an appointment because the damned bug is everywhere. So I started doing Research. Do bedbugs drink like a cockroach? No, they absorb moisture out of the air. A dehumidifier will inhibit them somewhat. Then I found FOOD GRADE DIATOMACEOUS EARTH. It is an off white powder, kinda looks like boric acid but, not the same thing. Diatomaceous Earth totally sucks the life right out the little buggers. Totally dehydrates them completely. After the exterminator told me they were all gone. I moved back in my house, only to find out that we still had them. Needless to say the fight was now on. I put double sided sticky tape on all legs of the furniture. I ordered the bedbug interceptor cups and put under every bed leg and coated the legs of the bed with vaseline so they couldn't climb up. I had already encased every mattress and box springs in heavy plastic, just in case, I am very glad I did. I have had up to 27 bites on me at one time. Since one bedbug will bite you in three places every time unless interrupted (Breakfast, lunch, and dinner) That means 9 of them were on me at one time. This freaked me out and I got mad. The Diatomaceous earth will make your house a mess, dry your feet out and etc. But it is well worth it. I got mine in a huge bag for $14.00 at "The Dog works" at 195 thurman avenue, columbus ohio. Phone 614-449-0045. It is totally organic, safe for pets and children, safe to use except you might get burning of the eyes and cough a little but, Hell, I don't care the damned things are gone. Voting Question: How to get a refund from priceline.com?

I recently purchased 2 rooms at a hotel that looked decent on the Priceline.com website. When I got to the hotel the manager was extremely rude, he first tried telling me priceline only purchased 1 room for me and only realized I was right after 5 minutes of arguing with me and looking at his paperwork saw they had sent the room reservations separately, ok fine. When I drive around to the hotel rooms (which are hidden from sight because they are behind the separate main office), there's a bunch of prostitutes walking around and even more people walking around drunk or high. When we find our rooms- which are at different ends of the hotel and are supposed to be non smoking, each room smells like I'm walking into an ashtray, they look clean however the one mattress looks to be stained with a very large amount of blood ( I pull sheets up checking for bugs etc). After seeing all this I call priceline they only want the manager to offer us more rooms (which he had originally claimed he had none 20 minutes before when I was checking in, part of the reason he was arguing with me about the additional room I had paid for). Bottom line I was not staying in this hotel with my children, I was only in this town for my uncle's funeral and was not going to jeopardize the safety of my family to stay in this hotel. Go back in to see the manager he of course can't believe the rooms were not non smoking they he claims are supposed to be, both rooms had ashtrays in them and reeked. He said he can't be responsible for guests leaving their ashtrays behind, I asked - then why doesn't your cleaning staff remove the ashtrays from these 'non smoking' rooms?' I could not argue with the man all night, so I left with no refund. Is there any way I can make priceline give me a refund? The advertisement for this hotel on pricelines website was nothing compared to what I found when arriving at this hotel. more

This is from a postcard posted 3rd. July 2010 which has only just arrived in London! Salam Alleycum, We are currently staying in a camp in the middle of the Wadi Rum desert. Last night we slept on mattresses under the stars which was a magical experience. The sky dazzled and there were even some shooting stars thrown in for good measure!! Today we took an 8 hour camel trek into the appropriately named "Wilderness Area" of the desert. The slow-moving pace of the camels was an atmospheric way to soak up the vastness and the emptyness of this unwordly place. That said I don't think I'll be rushing back on a camel any day soon - they're moody and they STINK!!! Prior to the desert we visited the ancient city of Petra (of Indiana Jones fame). The city was amazing with stunning sandstone monuments, including the one overleaf (the "Treasury") which you view by walking through a narrow 2KM gorge. Leh (northern city in the Indian Kashmir region) where we are staying was hit by a mudslide on Thursday night and they reckon over 130 people have been killed. Both M*** and I are safe (we are staying at a place on high ground) but the city is in a state. We helped yesterday with trying to dig for survivors but found nothing. Resolved Question: My legs (below the knee) are very itchy... the rest of my body is also starting to become itchy.?

I started getting itchy legs after babysitting. I would sit on my knees on the carpet and by the time I got home my legs would be very itchy just on the front below the knee (exactly what was touching the carpet). They have a dog and 3 cats, I don't think the mother treats them for fleas or anything. I know I'm not allergic because I have 4 cats at home who do not have fleas. I haven't babysat there for quite some time (1-2 weeks?) and my legs are still flaring up. I'm also starting to get itchy on my sides along the lower part of my rib cage, my abdomen, my face, the rest of my legs, my forearms, my underarms, and my chest near the bottom of my sternum. It's nowhere near what it's like on my lower legs though. I was looking in my sheets today to see if I could find any bugs. I didn't, but I found a spot of blood on my pillow. But there's nothing where my legs would be. It's not a stain because I don't eat on my bed unless it's made. I'm also not near my pillows when I sit on it to eat. I was laying on my bed today fiddling around with my camera when I noticed this strange bug crawling up the strap. I had never seen anything like it. It was yellow and black and very hard. It's back was like a single wing thing curved upwards. It was not a spider. It really freaked me out so I flushed it. I looked up bed bugs and it looks nothing like them. I also checked under my mattress and under the fitted sheet for any bugs and could not find any. My legs are getting scarred and I want the itching to stop. I know it is not scabies because my hands/ fingers are not affected. more

I am going to be living in a 4 bedroom flat right next to campus this school year. So excited. In a month I move in. I want my bedroom to have a very zen feel. Okay, so I have decided that it is time to totally redo my room. I'm getting a new mattress and everything. The only thing that I am not changing is some of the furniture. Here I realize my problem - I inherited my great grandmothers furniture when she passed away. Resolved Question: What should I do about my sore tailbone?

I have been having a sore tailbone for about a month now, and I do know why. I recently got a new futon mattress which is thicker than the last one, but it feels more airy. It's hard to explain. The point is, I can feel the bars through the mattress when i do anything on it...sleep, lay down, sit, stand, etc. and I think that that is why I am having this problem. I had no injury that would lead to it so it HAS to be this damn futon/futon mattress. The frame itself is about a year old but like I have said, this mattress is about a month old, same as my tailbone problem. I know what kind of things I can do to stop it like pain relievers and soaking, but why even try that when the pain is just going to come back from sleeping on it and using it everyday. There is no other way to replace the mattress and we don't have the financial means to buy a better futon or buy a bed, so what should I do? If I keep sleeping on it, will my tailbone become severly damaged or anything like that? My dad did buy the cheapest futon frame in the whole store too, so that can also be a contributing factor. Voting Question: I worry so much all the time?

My son is 4 months old. He's my first. I worry about sids, asthma, croup, even infant botulism at one time....EVERYTHING. I am constantly doing research about everything that should have me going to the doctor. He recently started sleeping on his face so now I get no sleep to get him off his face. According to babysake.com, sids is probably caused due to the chemicals in crib mattresses, so I bought a mattress cover, and freaked out even more. I love him so much. And I catch crap for being the paranoid mother all the time. I can't help it. I keep telling myself that what they say doesn't matter and I'd rather be "safe then sorry." I feel like I have searched to the end of the internet to find "the dream bed." I am looking for a queen bed in dark wood / espresso, with some sort of floating headboard elements (can be wood or leather). I would prefer not to have a footboard. Hey everyone, I currently have a Visco-Pedic by Posturecraft, and its not bad. However I have always wanted a tempurpedic, and I decided I am gonna save up and finally get one this month. So I was looking around and soon found out they are definitely not cheap, and there are NO deals anywhere. I decided on the advantage or classic just because of how much cheaper they are.. Then it hit me.... eBay. So after looking at prices on eBay and googling around I found that the most recommended one is the RhapsodyBed (may have to do with Oprah's endorsement... but I like to think they dont pay her off...lol) So I found 2 deals on eBay... 1. Liquidation The guy took it down temporarily he said, but it was $2,099 and I talked down to $1,950. It is brand new, in box, however does not have a warranty. 2. Closeout http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120593331502 I was also emailing this guy, who has a 25 year warranty through Marshall Mattress (3rd party mattress warranty). I could probably talk down the price a little... So my real question here is... is this a good deal? I hear great and terrible things about tempurpedic.. but I think the terrible are people that just dont like memory foam. As for warranty... am I gonna need it? For them to give a 20 yr warranty means that they are confident they WONT have to replace it... And its prorated on top of that... Opinions? Experiences? Thanks! more

Voting Question: what do you think about this camper van idea?

POSTED THIS IN ANOTHER SECTION THOUGHT I'D POST IT IN ANOTHER i'm thinking about gettting this moving van and making it into a camper on the passanger side i'm going try and get a back seat out of a conversion van because they fold into a bed, hopefully get one for cheap out of a junk yard. For a second bed i think i'm going to get a sheet of ply wood and heng it to the passanger wall some how with some legs that fold out. so when it's not in use i can fold it up on the wall an secure it some how. like a hide away bed or something. An just going to put a blow up mattress on the sheet of ply wood. And the 3rd bed just going to put a small blow mattress on the floor. on the driver side of the box going to put a small bathroom/shower,sink, stove. and just going to leave rest of the room for storage think i'll just buy an ice chest to keep the food cold. Don't know to much about the wiring, don't think i need much power just to run stuff like lights, lap tops, box fans, maybe a deep cell battery will do idk like to see a door on the side an a window that opens on both sides. the guys asking 3500 for the thing, it has 200,000 miles on it, how bad do you think it'll be on gas? think i should just get a camper van? just want some opinions on this HERES THE VAN: http://i836.photobucket.com/albums/zz281/hippie337/0706101821-00.jpgplan on traveling cross country in this thing also just thought i'd mention that more
