I don't know what's going on with sheets lately, but I have a very standard queen mattress somewhere around 10" but all my sheets are either really tight and the corners comes untucked when tossing and turning or they don't fit at all. It's weird, I even buy jersey stretch sheets because those are the only ones that really fit good. So I am wondering if I buy king size will they fit? I am sure it will be a little loose so I am debating buying 4-6" of memory foam to make up the difference, does anybody know if this will work for me? more

We have a king size bed that is made of two mattresses pushed together. They are memory foam and were given to my husband and I as a wedding gift from my grandma. The only thing I don't like is the fact we have to have a box spring under them. Voting Question: Back pain/problems. What changes to my bed can help?

I am 6'4 and weight 200+ pounds. I have a double bed which I got for around £279. It is quite cheap but it had a memory foam layer (which turns out to be shit) for the mattress. I got this bed because my other one was giving me seriously back problems. For the first few weeks it was fine and I could feel the difference it was making, but recently I have had some scares and the other day it felt like my lower back went and I would get these weird pains (like I could feel the back bones rubbing against each other) when I moved in certain ways. Long story short, I really can't afford to buy another bed and my room does not have nearly enough size for a king size. So I was thinking if I could change things about my bedding which are likely to help. Anyone got any advice? I was thinking of getting a new pillow (John Lewis have those Super Comfort ones which feel amazing when I touch them (I work there)) and one of those memory foam layers (god knows what's with me and this stuff), but those are really expensive. Any advice anybody? BTW: I am 21, 6'4 and the feeling I get when I am sleeping is like I am lying on my stomach and someone is lifting my legs over my head. I get the feeling on the top of my neck and lower back then the whole is bending towards each other at each end. I also constantly have a stiff back and I now naturally take much longer to to bend down and get things and find my self also supporting myself before I reach down and grab almost anything. more

my bro and I have bunk beds and i sleep on the bottom so I am limited on space. I would love a full memory foam mattress but they are expensive. and adding a 3inch topper will give me less room. My question is (because a buddy told me) that i could take a king or queen topper and cut it in half and use it to sleep on.. Assuming i buy a 3-4inch topper, cut in half and stacked would make a 6-8inch layer, which would be more than my current 5inch mattress. and since we have bunk beds i had a solid 3/4inch thick peice of MDF board on the bottom. Voting Question: What is the best mattress for scoliosis in my sorta unique state?

I have about an 18º curve in my spine. I have pretty bad posture (though I've been treating it) and over the last year or so my back pain has escalated substantially. I've read so many things on the internet but I can't any constant answer. I am 18 and live with my father, so he's got the wallet as I just got laid off and pretty much spent all my money on traveling. I got this mattress about two years ago and it feels like it's either failing or the quality has faded. Or it has slowly destroyed my back, or something. I believe it is a spring mattress with a soft pillowtop. For people suffering from muscle pain from scoliosis, I have heard anything from a memory-foam top, to a not so firm mattress, to a firm mattress. I even heard people like water beds. I also heard that the quality of the mattress can't be truly told in the store as the quality can degrade rather quickly, so I'm looking for people with long term experience. My back is usually fine during the day, the majority of my pain is my deep deep muscle knots on both of my neck/shoulder areas. As soon as I lay in my pillowtop bed, I feel uncomfortable pain in my lower back and If I don't smoke weed or take a muscle relaxant I often can't sleep. My lower back/butt sinks into the mattress and doesn't support my back at all. I literally feel the pain in my lower back as soon as I lay in my bed and my bottom sinks. It is truly a nightmare and the pain spreads up towards the middle of my back as well. I do find some relief and usually fall asleep on my side, but it's impossible to sleep flat on my back. I'd have to twist my hips or turn my head to deal with the lack of support, and that would aggravate my muscles even more. My father's mattress is a california king and it's actually like 5 years old. The firmness of the mattress feels like pure bliss and I can fall asleep and not wake up in the night. My back immediately feels much better when i sleep on that bed and it's a spring mattress, but of course i usually only take long naps on it. It's probably really firm because it is so big. Off my bed, I feel like I'm in pain, my knots have come back (after considerable self treatment like girlfriend deep tissue massage (she's certified), self massage, heat/ice, medical marijuana (i'm in socal with a card), and stretching is my only minor relief. At night and in the morning i feel the majority of my pain, and I feel it is keeping me from truly achieving relief by strengthening my muscles because it seems like I backtrack when I sleep. I don't want to keep smoking as much as I am. I know i'm kidding myself as it only temporarily reduces the pain and the doctors originally said I shouldn't have pain anyway. That was 2 years ago. So I know this is long, thanks for reading. I come to the bottom line, the best option for our budget would be some kind of memory foam. It is alot more cheap than a mattress and we expected the mattress we bought to last alot longer than it did. But I have read good and bad things, and the problem might still persist since I don't think it'll solve my mattress support problem. So if anyone has a suggestion for a good mattress or foam cover, please please PLEASE tell me. I have literally fallen into a desperate hole of physical pain and I feel like my mattress is a huge huge contributing factor of the amount of severe muscle pain I am experiencing. It is literally 2:30am and the pain is making me feel like I'm a suffering fiend. I have been trying to sleep for 2 hours. I haven't tried flipping the mattress either. I am really looking forward to any advice. It only progressed from 16 to 18 when i was younger and I had a huge growth spurt VERY early (7th grade) which is the primary reason I have ended up with scoliosis. The thing about my lower back is that it usually never hurts during the day. My primary pain is in my upper back, where I have muscle knots that have been caused by a variety of factors and I have been trying to get rid of them. I've never had an issue with lower back pain except when I sleep on my mattress. I haven't slept on a firm mattress in the long-term but I feel like it can support my back much better. I hope I don't have a slipped disc or something. But I have gone to multiple doctors and they all tell me to exercise and build my core/back muscles, but I've never mentioned the bed issue. I really don't think my mattress was this weak when i first bought it. Thx for repliei also stopped growing very early and by the account of the two orthopedic surgeons i went to the curve wouldn't progress and all they told me was to take some Tylenol. more

My husband and I have been married for 3 years. Next month his grandparents are coming over to visit for two weeks. We're trying to figure out which bedroom they should sleep in. I am looking for a new mattress and feeling a bit overwhelmed. I cant decide if I should purchase a memory foam or just a regular old mattress and then at some point possibly put on a Memory Foam Topper. I have a Euro Style bed frame with a built in box spring (very low to the floor). I can spend up to $1300, but would like to stay under that. Hello- I just recently got married and although my wife and I are dealing with the tough economic times, as most of us are, we still need to sleep. It seems like I haven't had a single nights sleep since I got married. We currently have a Select Comfort Sleep Number Queen bed. Although these are fairly good mattresses, at 6ft2in and 290lbs, I m use to sleeping on a queen alone! My wife only being allof 5ft and 100lbs takes up little space but she's a "mover and shaker," as am I, while sleeping. Needless to say, we need a larger mattress. I have been looking tirelessly. I found that the mattress that we like best sems to be the Eurotop's with Memory Foam top. However, these are also the more expensive kind of mattress. I have been able to find a similar Eurotop at Sams Club for around $800, not including box! It would be a site unseen purchase which I really would prefer not to do, but atleast Sam's has a return policy. I have heard of people getting great deals, but from where? Help! more

Have purchased 2 king size beds in last 2 years and hate them both. The first was memory foam.... hurts the lower back...can't move feel suffocating. Next was a firm pillowtop which broke down in less than a year. One person is 350 lbs and other is 200 lbs. We love our queen size serta in the guest room but king size beds seem to be a horse of a different color. We tried expensive thick feather quilted pad which helped for a few months. Hubby says must get a new bed today! more

I am a mattress salesman so I get great deals on the biggest mattresses- sometimes even free. Resolved Question: I bought a 4" memory foam mattress topper for my king size bed and now my king size sheets do not fit.?

When I bought the mattress topper it said king size sheets would fit, but mine do not. Does anyone know what size I need? I have looked into the deep pocket king sheets but there are several options for "deepness" to pick from. Does anyone know if 15" deepness would work or do I need to go deeper? Resolved Question: can you "flip" a pillowtop mattress when there are indentations where we sleep?

We have an expensive king size pillowtop mattress. Simmons Beauty Rest. It is only 7 yrs. old and has indentations where we sleep. It is very uncomfortable since these "holes" make it impossible to turn over in your sleep and there is a high spot in the center of the bed. We are trying to figure out what to do. We have 2 other mattresses in our guest rooms that are very old and do not have pillowtopsthey are still quite comfortable to sleep on. I think that the pillowtop "feature" is the problem,but it is very difficult to find a non-pillowtop mattress. We do not want a memory foam one either. Which companies make a regular mattress. more
