Memory Foam Mattress Futon Questions and Answers
Resolved Question: What kind of bed would be comfortable for us both and not have to spend a lot of money?
I love a soft bed. We had been sleeping on a sofa sleeper mattress on the floor with a 4 in. memory foam on top. It works but i've endured minor back pain/stiffness from it. So we put the thin mattress and memory foam topper on the futon sleeper and I slept more comfortable than I have in months! I felt great! But when told my boyfriend, he complained that he hadn't and that his chest hurts, that the bed is too soft. I don't want to get rid of the foam topper but I would like some suggestions of whats a good compromise for us both. Thanks.

air mattress, futon, spring mattress, tempur pedic, memory foam, sleep number, etc?
moreVoting Question: I'm 19 weeks pregnant and I'm having severe hip pain...?
So this past Monday I woke up early in the morning to this severe hip pain in my right hip. I flipped over to find that I also had pain in my left hip. Of course, I can't sleep on my back or my belly so my only options are my hips and, with both of them in pain, I decided to get up. When I got up I almost collapsed. I slowly sat down and put a heating pad on my right hip (where the pain was greatest) and eventually the pain went away. I had the same problem on Tuesday and the same thing happened. This happened again this morning but this time the pain never completely went away. The pain was extremely piercing this morning to the point where I couldn't find any comfort. As time passed, the pain softened but, today, it has not completely gone away. In fact, I've been limping around the house all day and I can't get any chores done. I feel like I'm about to tip over and, though both hips are in pain, the right one feels like there's a huge bruise on it that I just can't see. Both hips feel as if they are about to pop out.
Now, this is my second pregnancy. I know there can be discomfort around this time when you are pregnant and I did feel that with my first but this pain is different. I have never experienced anything like this before and it has me worried. I have pregnancy pillows, memory foam pillows, down pillows, cotton pillows, a futon mattress and memory foam pad on top of my mattress so I know I'm doing everything right and, yes, I do keep my body pillow between my legs at night and additional pillows under my feet. All this week I've tried different ways to position the pillows and I've tried all of the different types of pillows and the pain continues to get worse.
Has anyone ever experienced this before? Any advice on how to get some comfort? Is this something I should be worried about?
Thanks so much for your help in advance!
moreResolved Question: Can you use just a memory foam to sleep on (no bed, no mattress) for a day or two?
Will it be painful or comfortable?
I will be living in a small apartment. I need something in which my guests (say, a couple) can sleep on for a day or two. I need to be able to fold it to a very small size and put away. I do not have a lot of storage space so the folding beds are not an option. I might go for a futon but would prefer not buying a large furniture. Any suggestions?
moreVoting Question: Buying a new bed: Do you think futons or memory foam is more comfortable?
I slept on a futon while preggo with one of my kids, and it was heavenly. I slept so well and had no aches and pains, so I want one again. My boyfriend says that memory foam mattresses are more comfortable though.
I thought about just getting a memory foam topper and putting it on my current mattress, but that's a $200 waste of money if I don't like it and decide to buy a futon instead.
Any opinions?Oh and the bed is not something we'll be buying together- we don't live together so it's pretty much up to me.

moreResolved Question: Would this Mattress Pad help me?
Ok so I bought a futon like a year and a half ago to use at my primary bed. Well from the start it wasn't incredibly comfortable, but now it's flattened out and it's almost like I'm just sleeping on the bars. I can't afford a better mattress or another bed, So I'm thinking of buying a Memory Foam Mattress pad like this http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Memory-Foam-1-inch-Mattress-Topper/834925/product.html
Would that help? Thanks.
moreResolved Question: Buying a Mattress and Boxspring Set, How Much and What Kind?
I am buying my first mattress set and have no idea what I am doing. I would love to have some advice as to what kind of mattress is comfortable, durable AND reasonable. I dont expect it to be cheap but this is for a 12 year old and she doesnt need memory foam or sleep number. Thanks for any help you've got for me. Btw, not letting her pick it out, she argued and argued that she would love a futon and as you can see, I am buying a new mattress, lol.Didnt mean to confuse, she has a futon now. 12 inch excellent quality but she slept on it for a month and then ended up sleeping on the couch. The buttons bothered her. She keeps going for looks not comfort. This is her 3rd bed.We will be making the final decision together but I only want to give her 2 or 3 options, no more. She will pick from the ones I have gathered info on. She has some back trouble and needs to sleep well. I have searched several sites and visited several stores but the sites offer little info and the salespeople want to sell. I just dont want to get ripped off. She will hopefully have this one for the recommended 10 years, lol!

I am looking for a place where I can buy large pieces of thick memory foam so I can make a mattress for a futon. I don't want to buy a pre-made mattress, I just want to buy bulk blocks of memory foam. Any one know where I can find this? I have tried local craft stores like Michael's and JoAnne fabrics, with no luck.

i am looking for like a 3" foam that i can just lay on the ground for the kids to lay on instead of on the hard ground. I babysit my niece and nephew a few times a week. i'm looking for a mew futon/mattress. when i went on a trip and we stayed in this cabin, the mattress on the bunk-bed was really comfortable. it wasn't memory foam, but it also didn't have springs, but it wasn't just a futon either...yeah, i know. confusing. but i wanted to find a good mattress like that. any suggestions.
moreResolved Question: Which type of mattress is best for me?
I'm 14, and I have a hard time sleeping. I toss and turn a lot before I fall asleep, and it usually takes me a while to fall asleep. I feel sore, groggy, exhausted- basically, still half asleep when I wake up. I have MINOR scoliosis (so it's not that serious, YET), so I have back pains sometimes.
So, I need a mattress to help me with all this stuff. And I kind of prefer something that's on the firm side. So should I get a mattress that's memory foam, latex, gel, spring (though I really hate spring mattresses), a futon, tempurpedic, intellibed, sleepnumber? I was considering an ikea mattress with a tempurpedic topper, but I'm not sure which ikea mattress?
Keep in mind, I'm about to start hardcore marching band soon, AND I'll be walking around school for 8 hours. I need a mattress that will give me a REALLY good night's sleep.
All help is appreciated!
moreVoting Question: Does a 2.5" memory foam topper provide enough depth/comfort for an 8.5 stone woman on an uber hard mattress?
I'm sleeping on a really, really hard bed. It's because it's a wooden futon with a slim duck feather mattress on top. Honestly it feels like I'm sleeping on a piece of wood!
I can't afford a thicker mattress so I've put 4 duvets under the sheet and that makes it a bit more comfortable but it's still too hard.
I have sore shoulders and like to sleep on my side. However, I'm finding that my hips and shoulders are not comfortable enough and I'm waking up in pain.
I've found a MEMORY FOAM mattress TOPPER for just £37 (including delivery) which I can afford (yey!) but it's 2.5" thick. It states that for someone under 12 stone in weight that is enough, but it doesn't sound like much??
Will a 2.5" topper make it comfortable enough for me to lie on my side or will it still feel like I'm lying on wood!

moreResolved Question: Will a memory foam make a big difference in my mattress?
I have a really hard mattress that sometimes gives me back pains and don't have the money right now to buy a new one. Will a memory foam make a big difference? Will it make my bed more comfortable and softer? Also I sleep on a futon, the memory foam can fold for the couch position right? Thanks a thousand. Why do you prefer the feather topper over the memory foam? Also, do you think a 3 inch memory foam or feather topper will fit into the futon cover with my 8" mattress?
moreResolved Question: How comfortable can you make a futon?
My son wants a futon for his college apartment bedroom. It will serve as his bed and a place to hang out. I am worried it won't be comfortable enough for sleep. I saw a 6 inch memory foam mattress for futons. Does anyone know how comfortable they are or how well they hold up?
moreResolved Question: Futon vs. Mattress top?
So I'm ending off my sophomore year in college and I find that I can't deal with sleeping on the mattress that the school provides. It feels like a hammock and I feel terrible every time I wake up from it. So I moved myself to the floor and sleep on an egg crate mattress top and my comforter. I sleep better except for the change from the top bunk to the floor(it's still a little awkward to be 5 feet lower than I was before). Next year I'll be in the same room i.e. same bed so I decided to buy some sort of "bed" for the floor. I was looking at either a memory foam type mattress topper or maybe a thin futon mattress. Anybody have any experience with futons or a mattress topper on the floor? I'm not really expecting anything for just a mattress topper on the floor, but you never know.
Thanks,
Nick

i have a memory foam mattress right now and im goin to be buying a futon....in addition to the futon mattress do you think it would be ok to put the memory foam underneath it? I don't see a problem with it but i figured i would get a second opinion (or third and fourth and fifth lol)
moreResolved Question: Memory Foam Mattress Top, is this a good Deal?
Right now I am sleeping on a futon with my boyfriend. We are both in our senior year at college, and needless to say, we don't have a lot of extra money. We went mattress shopping at the beginning of the semester but everything is so expensive, it was pretty overwhelming. I don't want to buy a cheap mattress because I know I will have it for years, but I can't imagine buying a $1300 mattress right now (even with the payment options... I just dont want to deal with that). So as a temporary solution (We will only be living where we are with this "bed" until May), I thought we should buy a memory foam topper, just to make our "bed" a little more comfortable.
I found a 2" Memory foam topper (comes with 2 pillows also) from Overstock.com (free shipping, yay!)
http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Serta-2-inch-Memory-Foam-Topper-with-Contour-Pillows/2653495/product.html
Do you think this is a good deal, or what else should I do!?
Thanks
