My daughter is 11 & wets the bed. First, I did also until nine & all pediatricians are saying most grow out of it by 13...so I'm not worried about the bedwetting. She wears GoodNights to bed & has a rubber sheet over her mattress. My problem is she will NOT throw away the GoodNight with urine in it. I've told her her wetting is nothing to be ashamed of, but she MUST pick up after herself. She says ok, then lies & doesn't do it again. It STINKS. Now that it's getting warmer..it REALLY stinks. In the past if she didn't throw it away in the morning she would get 24 hours of groundation. THat means no tv, phone, anything. She doesn't care. If she did she'd quit forgetting the urine filled GoodNight in her room. Getting the carpet wet & stinky. What to do!??Want to add - we tried giving her a checklist of things to do - GoodNight tossing was #1 on the list. Still got ignored.Brown Eyed - You're incorrect. Now, if bedwetting was a signal to an abuse of some kind or a bladder issue I'd concur....however, that is not the case here. She has inherited my incredibly small bladder - noted by ultra sound. I went through this as a kid and in the 80's it was dubbed "abnormal" & I was operated on, put in therapy & had to wear a device to bed....all to find out the bladder was small. I was raised by Christians in a Christian church, but since Katrina it's like I'm done with that on many levels and yet I am still reluctant to let it totally go. I'll explain a bit. There I was with missing people, dead people, lost everything, and I hear that this is somehow our fault, I had several churches turn me away when I asked for rubber boots and clean underwear for first responders, (they couldn't leave and asked me to get them those things because I could get them back in past the check points). I figured to hell with this and took my Red Cross card and purchased those things for my people myself. I sent my kid off to his first semester of college with an air mattress and a used coverlet so that we could get those people boots and underwear. So anyways you can only begin to imagine the anger I feel when my entire life I have gone with the whole Christian church and saved thing only to be dropped like a hot potato when the going got tough. That said, there is some comfort in praying to a deity, thinking that there is something out there that helps the world along to be a better place. I do find myself asking for mercy for Haitians, or some poor sobbing guy on the news who can't find his daughter, (I so know how that feels). And yet with all of that, it makes no difference. Kittens are still tortured by people who should have been aborted by their heathen mothers, children are raped and killed, people and animals starve to death while others eat more than their share. I don't get it. I opened my mother's bible the other day and all it offered was a psalm of praise. That's no answer. Telling me free will or God's will is no answer. I guess I want an answer as to why? What good reason is there for God to allow bad things to happen? What good reason does God have for allowing some guy on tv to tell heart broken victims it's their fault? Why would a just and good God allow the innocent to suffer at the hands of a monster? I'll be frank, I'm not looking to hear the same old it's God's plan, or free will. I don't want to hear about not questioning God because that's the easy way out. I can't respect a God who takes the easy way out. I lay awake at night unable to sleep thinking about all the horrible things that people do and I want to know why if there is a God does he allow it to happen? How does allowing a zoo animal to starve to death help some masterful plan? How does allowing the rape of a woman help some masterful plan? Why can't this masterful plan happen without all the horrible things?Thank you Reverend, but I'm no saint, I just try to do what I think is right and what I think helps others, and half the time I fail at it. "God has nothing to do with "horrible things." Sigh. My question is why does he allow them to happen not that he does them. Faith is all good and wonderful for someone who hasn't seen and done what I've had to do. When you have to face an old man and have to watch him cry over his wife who died in a room filled with people, mud, fecees, urine and no oxygen it ain't so easy. When you stand on the corner of your street inhaling the stench of your dead neighbor in his attic that the searchers missed, try not questioning why.I appreciate all the answers, atheist, agnostic, Christian and all. There are a few Christians who are apparently upset with me over the abortion, deity, and other comments. All I can say is that like I said earlier, I'm pretty much out the door and have a good dose of anger when it comes down to it. I put the question here because I am not willing to seek out a church or a bible study group. I made it pretty clear that I don't put much stock in churches and groups after Katrina. I asked because on some level I do miss having a God to put faith into and I'm really looking for answers. Is there not one verse that could explain why God sits back and allows horrible things to happen to good people? Faith, obedience, etc. answers are not and have not done it for me. I apologize, but I am quite bull headed on this subject, I just want an answer. Despite me seeming closed minded, I really do want an answer. It took us two weeks to find a disabled niece and went a day and a half thinking my husband was dead before getting a call from an evacuee letting me know he was not. The nephew of a friend killed himself. My mother's neighbor tried to kill himself. She now has the lovely memory of finding him. My husband has nighmares where people are begging him for water and he has none to give while that guy who cut himself getting out of his attic cries for help as he bleeds to death. The sound of the water rapping on the windows and beating on the roof is calming. The way the air smells after a storm relaxes me. How the all the colors become soft and pastel is lovely. On days like this, I open my window and sit, allowing the rain to enter and soak me in its cool, dampness. The chilly air envelopes me. Every breath is clarifying and refreshing. ** I had been waiting all day. I knew that a storm was coming, and I was eager to watch as the sky opened up, allowing the flashes of electricity and the glitter of raindrops to descend downwards. The sight of dark clouds slowly creeping over the sun would probably cause most people to feel gloomy and disheartened, but it created a spark of excitement in me. I stood in front of my bed, watching as the sunlight muted outside of my window. I closed my eyes and allowed myself to fall back onto my mattress. The old springs groaned in response to the extra addition of my bodyweight. The sharp prodding of metal springs was uncomfortable, but I didn’t feel like moving. I have a dual-sided adjustable air mattress. The pump that supplies it has two male O connectors, one for each hose on both sides of my bed. One of the little Os just snapped clean off, leaving me with a half-inch plastic piece of what now looks like penne (as in baked ziti noodles, round and hollow) and In can no longer connect the hose to the pump! the perfect fix (in my opinion) would be a dual-sided rubber male-male connector, so I could slide one end into the pump, then one end into the mattress hose, but I can find nothing but hard plastic and hose clamp types. I have a small commercial AC condenser for what i think must be a freezer in the store below me, on my roof about 80lbs which does not have vents underneath it, so it can rest on pretty much anything. I have tried lifting it on rubber pads, insulating it with blankets underneath, and everything in between. Everything works a little bit, but not perfect. I am thinking now, an entire mattress underneath it? Maybe a layer of bricks? I really am running out of materials to try. Wood only made it worse, as did the special plastic lifts that the AC guy tried out. My six year old son whom is developmentally advanced or at least above average for his age-- still wets bed at night -- he wears training pants and will even get up in the middle of night and change a wet one. I've got this inflatable mattress, but it's got a leak in it and we can't find the leak, so we have to throw it out right? Only problem is, we don't know what to do. I bought a small "aero bed" for my 3yo to sleep on when we go away.. it has worked wonderfully up until a month or so ago when, upon pulling it out of it's bag, I noticed that there were NUMEROUS large spots of mold/mildew (moisture must have entered the bag somehow and started this growth). Hi, please help Ive started breaking out in patches of dry skin. First on my breast then a bit on my leg, each time i moistured the area and it cleared. My son is 6yrs old and was potty trained at age 2 1/2 and stopped bedwetting around age 4. But for the past few weeks he had started wetting his bed. my firends tell me that this happens with boys sometimes. I had never heard this before and just wanted to see if anyone else has had this problem. I have tried to get him to wear pull-ups but he refuses, so i don't push. I was worried that maybe something was bothering him, but he says not. He is a well balanced child, eats well and gets along well with his friends. I have talked with his teacher and she has told me that she hasn't seen any difference with him, that everything seems to be fine, he does well in school, straight A's. I have put a rubber sheet on his bed to protect his mattress and I put a towel down on top of that then his bed sheet. I don't mind washing sheets and PJ's, it's my job. I just want to know if this is normal for a boy to start wetting again, and if so how long will this last? He doesn't seem to be bothered by it right now, he just don't want his friends to know. I registered for the "Nature's Purest-Hug Me" playard from Babies R Us because it was labelled as organic and healthier. Well okay, the fabrics are organic cotton but the playard mattress is still smelly vinyl plastic! I set it up last Friday and now, almost 4 days later, it still stinks. I'm trying to avoid baby products that outgas right down to the mattress and now we are left with this thing. I will be using this for naps mostly, as we will be co-sleeping in the bedroom.
