Open Question: Can anyone help me with this toddler situation?

I am newly divorced and a single mom. Right now, all I can afford is a small one bedroom apt. My son is 3 and he has always slept in his own room until now. I don't have any room for him to have his own bed, so we sleep together in mine. I never wanted to get him into that habit, but I don't really have another option right now. I tried using a blow up mattress, but he just cried and kept climbing into my bed. We do sleep soundly, but I am afraid of starting a bad habit. Does anyone have any suggestions on this situation? more

Open Question: Where are the fleas in a hardwood floor room?

I have a bedroom with hardwood floors in it. With 2 clothes drawer cabinets, 2 shelving units and a closet with nothing on the floor only hanging clothes. Where are they coming from. I went through an exterminator and foggers and I recently tried Borax all over the floor to get in the cracks and I still have fleas. The white bowl doesn't seem to get them anymore either. They start biting when I go to bed then stop by two-ish. They do bite hard so there is no sleeping through it. I have hung my sheets out for the day and sometimes it helps. My living room is right next door to my bedroom that I am treating too. Could this be overflow from the rugged living room? Or could they be in me mattress? more

Open Question: Heated blanket for car or camping with no electricity?

I am going to be doing a lot of camping in the fall for work. I have the option of sleeping in my covered van without the seats- I can actually fit a full sized air mattress in it! I still get so cold at night and i saw car powered blankets with a 12 volt battery. I just can't find one that can last all night and not use the stupid automatic shut-off. Do you know of any good blankets that will last at least 12 hours a day and recharge quickly for use the next night and early morning? (I have to sit outside all day and the morning are very chilly too) more

I'm really worried because his ex-wife takes everything from him. He pays all her bills, gives her $300 a week on top of that, and it puts a financial strain on us. I see him stressed all the time, and I can tell it's making him sick. However, her hand is still out for more. He makes 90k a year and he barely sees a dime of it. I have NO problem whatsoever with him supporting his kids. I love them to death. But it feels like she's taking advantage of him, and expects everything to be the same like when they are married. She dictates everything from custody to his money. It's really driving me crazy, and I don't know what to do. He won't stick up for himself...and it hurts me to see him hurt so bad.....I'm beyond stressed all the time because of this. We have to stay at her house on the weekends to see the kids because they play football/cheerleading. I have no problem with the kids playing, but I feel awkward staying there, sleeping on an air mattress. The kids don't respect us there, and she and her current BF dictate everything we do. I feel like a child, and it's really annoying.... I don't know what to do. I love him so much, but I feel like there is not a thing I can do....we can't even afford to finish the divorce (which is $200!) because she sucks us dry. AS A SIDE NOTE! I met him 6 months after they separated. They don't consider themselves married at all, it's the legality at this point. According to tax records, they aren't married. more

i just got a brand new Thermarest trail lite sleeping pad and i unrolled it, lay it on the floor and opened up the valve. (unscrewed it as far as it would go) Now, it has been like 3.5 hours and i feel like 25% of the mattress is inflated. Its the first time i ever purchased a thermarest and its also the first time this pad has been inflated (its brand new). I also heard that it should take about 8 minutes for this sleeping pad to inflate but its already been hours for me.... :\ am i doing something wrong? more

I've slept on the floor, or on a mattress on the floor my entire life. Its just how i sleep best, Frames + boxspring + mattress = i have trouble sleeping. Im just moving into a new apartment in The States and im wondering, what kind of bed can i get that suits my "on the floor feeling" yet doesnt make me appear to be some poor slob? well she will be turning 9 next week, and wants a slumber party. So here are my plans. Set up the living room with lots of mattresses over the floor (basically one massive bed) get all her friends over at the house at 5 pm, go rent some DVD's. Order some pizza in and get the girls comfortable in the living room put on the DVD's and let them have their pizza. then at around 9, set up the chocolate fountain, and snacks let them get their food and then bring down the games, like girly trivia, scene it friends edition etc and then let them talk and eat their chocolaty snacks before they fall to sleep. I have arranged for my husband and 2 sons to be out of the house because i know my husband will embarrass our daughter for a laugh so i promised her this time she will have a grown up party no adult interference, i will just be upstairs to make sure if anything happens there is an adult around. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong I am at my girlfriend's party last night well I am someone that likes to help out during parties So i just pass around food And stuff nicely. I dont ignore people. my girlfriend tellS me you see what you did I was planning for you to sleep with me in An other bed. I said you yelled At me cause I complained I could not sleep and then you tell me I can sleep but since I spend 3 minutes in Another room she tells me i CAN sleep in the living room and while i am alone in thé living room i get pissed cause theirs 6 people over there and i am all alone. I'm a 15 year old female, and haven't had my back x-rayed. The pain is right along my lower spine, and has been getting worse. It now hurts to walk or even lay down or sit. I can't pop it, I've tried. And I've been feeling weaker in my legs progressively. PS: The pain has been there for over a year and a half, I just keep telling my parents that it doesn't hurt very badly because I feel bad about them always spending money on my medical problems. I'm 15/f. I dance and play softball. The dance I do is ballet, pointe, and jazz. I'm mostly a left or right fielder, or catcher in softball. I make sure to work my abs almost every day. I've done everything I can with my parents not taking me to the doctor (I have a chronic illness, and feel bad enough that instead of my mom having eye surgery, my parents have had to pay for my hospitalizations, meds, etc.) I've had massage therapy, tried alternating heat and ice, and even got a new mattress. I sleep on my right side with a pillow in between my knees and another between my face and arm. I've also tried a day of bed rest here and there, but with school and sports going on every day, I can no longer do that. My back pain is horrible, and it's gotten to the point where even walking or laying down hurts. I push through the pain, but I'm not sure how much longer I can keep up the facade. more

I just read up on getting rid of a musty smell in a mattress and box spring. Spraying stuff on it and then letting it dry out in the sun is very helpful. Last winter I had put the guest room bed in the basement to make the room more spacious. We are selling the house so I decided to make it nice looking again and get the bed back in the room. Of course out of the 5 yrs. here, it's been the hottest summer. Our basement is dry but has a normal basement smell and every so often when it seems very humid out, we put the dehumidifier on. Well, unfortunately I put the bed in the basement when I should have let it be because now it absorbed some of the humidity and smells a bit musty. I sprayed and aired it out inside and it's a little better but not sure if I should get rid of the bed or knowing that winter is coming, the smell will go away because the humidity will go away. Is that good or will still harm someone if they sleep in the bed? Thanks. more

Having newly move into a property I have been sleeping on a mattress on the bare floor (currently no carpet or laminate). However, I've now found damp patches on the floor under the mattress (no, I don't wet my bed), creating mould. In your opinion, is this likely moisture from the bed user being being trapped under the mattress where there is no air, or a sign of dampness coming up from the floor also being trapped under the mattress.? I bought a Comfort Dreams 10-inch Memory Foam mattress (twin XL size) a few days ago, but... It's REALLY hard. It's like sleeping on a rock. Voting Question: Is it bad to have your bed too comfy?

I used to have a thin duvet and two pillows and I wouldn't have any troubles getting to sleep but it wasn't the warmest or most luxurious bed to sleep in, but on the plus side I didn't have much trouble getting up in the morning...recently though I replaced my old mattress protector with a thicker, quilted one, got quilted pillow protectors, doubled my pillows and got a duvet with a higher tog rating. I also sprinkle lavender oil on my pillows so that I sleep even better. I now have a really good nights' sleep at night and am much warmer and sleep much more deeply, but the problem is now I don't want to leave my bed in the morning...this morning it took me over an hour to get out of bed after my alarm clock went. Since then I've got nothing done all day cos I've still been really tired and haven't been able to wake up properly. I even ended up falling asleep on the couch after lunch for a couple of hours. Does it sound like my bed is so comfortable that it's bad for me? Is it better to have bed as a place that you don't mind leaving in the morning? I'm unemployed at the moment so it's difficult enough for me to have motivation to get up in the morning and get on with stuff during the day.edit: i meant i used to have 2 pillows side by side, but id only sleep on one. i bought a double bed when my gf and i were going out but she's off the scene now. more

This may sound like a silly question, but I'm a new mom-to-be (34 weeks pregnant with a girl), and I'm trying to get my baby's room ready. We got this really cute crib bedding set, but the blanket that came in it is waaaaay shorter than the mattress. The fitted sheet in the set was perfect, so I'm guessing the blanket is supposed to be shorter. I know that they don't actually sleep with the blanket, but how are you supposed to make it look nice in the crib while the baby's not using it? In my dream there were 2 kittens, one being really small, the other being around the average size for a newborn. They were playing with a small yellow ball i think, while me and my cousin were sitting on this hammock/mattress/set up bed thing, so there was a gap underneath and the kittens kept going underneath and we had to continuously check that they were ok under there (except i was scared to put my head down to look incase they decided to scratch me), and then i kept on getting worried that we were going to squash them as the mattress would sort of sag under our weight and after a while, i couldnt hear them anymore and they were lying in front of us like they were sleeping and i got worried in case they were dead. I bought a Golden-Mattress Queen sized mattress about 3 weeks ago and it was so comfortable. Now it's starting to feel hard and I heard the box spring make a squeaky noise just today, but it's not broken. The mattress is sitting on the floor, but I heard that's not an issue as long it is sitting on a box spring. Could the box spring actually be the reason for the mattress discomfort? And I would call the place I purchased it at, but once a stain is on the mattress, warranty is voided. I have three small spots of make-up my sister spilled on it. Anyone know if Golden Mattress is a good brand? Or a type of profession that cleans mattresses? Or if mattresses don't feel like they first did 3 weeks after they've been purchased? It's only me...no one else sleeps on the mattress. There shouldn't be a problem this soon. more

Please just read all of it and tell me what you think. These are all past events So my brother has a friend who I started talking to June. I first started texting him and it was all basically a joke. But I started texting him for real and I started liking him and I thought he was a really cool guy. So one night I had this sleepover with my brother and my 2 friends and we called him and me and him just talked from about 10 to 4 in the morning just about different things. He'd tell me stories and vice versa. So a couple weeks after that I was having another camp out/sleepover with the same people but I invited him and he came. When I met him, I was really shy.. I could barely look at him. But we were playing this game called Manhunt, and it didn't turn out too well because one of my friends pussied out, but since me and him were on a team, they left to go back home and me and him were alone in the woods. We climbed this big dirt hill and some fireworks were going off so we decided to stay for awhile. Earlier I wouldn't give him a hug because I was really shy and I kinda liked him, which caused my shyness, but when we were alone I gave him one and after he kept his arm around me, still sitting on the dirt hill and talking. Eventually we had to leave cause my mom was looking for me but the dirt hill was really steep, so he just picked me up, the firefighter way, and he carried me for awhile. When we got back to the house, my friends decided to make us sleep together since there was only 3 mattresses. Anyways, I agreed and I was sitting up for awhile because I was nervous to.. Cuddle with him. But he was rubbing my back and he was telling me that everything is fine and that he wouldn't do anything and for me to not be scared. So I did lay down. But he kind of was touching me so I got up and left the tent and went into my house but he followed me. When we got outside he told me that if he was doing anything that bothered me to just tap him on the shoulder, or tell him to stop and he would. I believed him, because I really wanted to because I did really like him by the end of the night. So we layed down again, he put his arms around me and we were like that for about an hour and I was falling alseep. But when he did think I was sleeping he whispered in my ear "Are you awake?" and he kept saying that. I thought it was weird he wanted to know if I was awake or not so I was waiting to see what he do if he though I wasn't awake. And then he started touching me. He touched all of my private parts. I was so shocked, and embarrassed, and angry I didn't know what to say. I couldn't think straight. So I stayed there for a little bit longer but eventually I got up cause I was just so shocked. I told my friends about it when they woke up and they were all shocked and angry. But we didn't tell him we knew. When he got up it was about an hour until he left and we all just talked for a bit. But I felt sick whenever I saw him. I was really hurt and angry. So when he left, the next day I talked to him about it and he told me he was confused and didn't know when to stop because I didn't say anything. And that he's done so much with other girls that he didn't know my boundaries. And when I tried explaining to him that I told him to stop earlier and that he shouldn't have done it again it's like he didn't want to listen. But I still talked to him. Every now and then we talk and I feel like I really like him, but I feel like I don't want to. He seems like he cares about me and that he wants me to trust him but I don't know if I can. I feel like he just wants to use me for sex or something but I'm scared to ask him that.. One day I will but I don't know how to just do it. He always says that he hates playing with peoples trust and that he's sincerely sorry about what he did and that he'd never do anything to make me uncomfortable again, I believe him, but I don't. What do you think? Do you think he's just trying to use me or do you think he really likes me?EDIT I think the only reason why I still talk to him is because I need closure. i woke up 2 days ago with about 6 bites that itch (clearly from some sort of blood sucker, very much resembles a mosquito bite). i am prone to mosquito bites and get them alot outdoors, but have also found them occassionally in my apt which is pretty old. there are 3 bites in a sort of triangle in one spot on my lower back, 2 next to each other on my back shoulder, and one on my stomache (sleep without a shirt). i freaked out and checked my bed and linens. there is no sign of blood streaks or fecal stains on anything including the sheets and mattress and i haven't found any actual bugs or sheddings or anything odd....my mattress is super clean and so were the sheets and pad (checked box spring too). i ended up washing them just in case. if i had bed bugs, and already have bites from them, would i necessarily find these blood spots, bugs, and/or other things left behind from them in the mattress seams, etc??? shouldn't there be 'signs' of them? also, how often do they bite, i havent gotten any new bites since 2 nights ago, so i'm hoping its just mosquito bites. tell me i should stop freaking out please!oh, and i haven't traveled or been to any hotels lately. more

I have had back pain as long as i remember. AnD iM 12!!! My lower and upper back hurt the most along with my neck. Sorry if this is long. I'm 16. I live with my mom. My dad moved out about 3 years ago. Ever since then my mom has been constantly putting me down. She says I'm stupid, a horrible daughter, and that I only care about myself. She curses at me. She yells at me for doing absolutely nothing. She has broken things in my room. She throws stuff at me. It gets to the point that I just lock myself in my room and bawl my head off. If it gets too bad I go to my dad's and she tells me not to come back. Then she calls back days later telling me to come home. I can't do it anymore. I want to live with my dad. But I'm scared to move out. I know for a fact that my mom will hate me if I move out. No matter what, she's still my mom, and her hating me will bother me a lot. I also have 2 dogs that she would never let me take with me. I'm scared to leave them with her. And I don't think she's emotionally stable. I'm scared that if I move out she'll kill herself. Also, my dad lives in a very small apartment and he can't afford much more. I have never gone Mattress shopping before. I went to sleepy's today and I got a deal for a Queen Memory mattress for $961.92 with delivery included; according to the invoice I'm saving $440.00 (I know it's probably not the best deal but I can always exchange it).
