I am thinking of getting a futon for our livingroom, because the couch we have now is getting ripped & my boyfriend wants something that turns into a bed, we've looked for sofa beds but can't find any our only choice of a couch/bed is a futon so i am wondering if they are comfortable to sleep on every night and to sit on daily, of course. My husband and I moved into our brand new home. We already had a little furniture so his mom ( my mother-in-law) thought it would be a good idea to give us her "OLD PLAID" sleeper sofa. This sofa wasn't needed because like I said we already had furniture. She figured it would be a good idea for us so that we will have a place for guests when they arrived. Originally we were only to get my husband's old bed from his room at her house. Somehow the sofa came as well. I absolutely hate the sofa because it is old and it looks awful. I realized it was broke when I was pulling the bed out for my kids to lay in and watch movies. The THING IS BROKEN!!! I was so upset. I wanted my husband to take it out right then. He would not! The next day I looked in the phone book and online to see if I can find someone who hauls trash and I did find them. My husband says "NO, I'll take the sofa out when it's time to take it out" I told him the time is NOW because it's broken. He says, "I'll take it out when I take it out." So because he said that I broke it more. I trashed the mattress that came with it. It is pretty much unusualbe at this point because I went into a rage and tried to destroy it. Please give me some advice. PS: I am not speaking to my husband. I love a soft bed. We had been sleeping on a sofa sleeper mattress on the floor with a 4 in. memory foam on top. It works but i've endured minor back pain/stiffness from it. So we put the thin mattress and memory foam topper on the futon sleeper and I slept more comfortable than I have in months! I felt great! But when told my boyfriend, he complained that he hadn't and that his chest hurts, that the bed is too soft. I'm moving into a studio apartment in two months and am looking for a sleeper sofa but am having trouble finding what I'm looking for and want to see if anyone else has found something suitable that can point me to the right company/brand/store. Here is what I need: I will be sleeping on this bed exclusively for two years while I'm in Grad school so I want one that pulls out (so I can put nice sheets on it and people wont be sitting on it all the time) I do not want one that folds flat like a futon. I have a 1997 Lz z Boy sleeper soafer queen size that I brought for my studio apt in downtown San Antonio, Tx. My boyfriend and I booked a cabin at a resort about 6weeks ago for a vacation for his mom, myself, him, his brother, and his brother's girlfriend. We asked his sister and her boyfriend if they wanted to go, they said they couldn't, so we booked a three bedroom cabin so everyone would have a room and not have to sleep on an airmattress. Well, 2 weeks ago, three weeks after we booked our cabin, his sister and her boyfriend decided that wanted to go and we could take an air mattress. This was fine, but yesterday we decided sleeping arrangements, my bofriend and I, his mom, and his brother and his girlfriend would all get a bedroom and his sister and her boyfriend had to stay on the airmattress or the sleeper sofa. Well they threw a fit and said they wouldn't stay on the air mattress or sleeper sofa for 2 or 3 nighs only one, and they wanted the nicest bedroom for 2 nights. I think since they aren't contributing money, they should sleep were they can, and be grateful that we are lettingthem add on at the last minute. My boyfriend thinks they should be able to stay in a room one of the nights and that I am wrong in making them stay on the sleeper sofa the whole time. Am I right or do they deserve this when they add on at the end and do not help with money at all. They could afford to help, but think they shouldn't because the cabin is paid for.But they want 2 nights in a room and won't accept one night. The original couch in the Airstream we are purchasing has been removed. In replacing it, we decided to find a sleeper sofa so that it can function as an extra bed as well. My sleeper sofa mattress that came with the couch is 5 ' thick. I am looking into memory foam mattress pads and have found them in 1, 2, and 3 inch thick. If you tri fold the bed that adds either 3, 6, or 9 inches of thickness. But since it is memory foam it will squish down.
