I have a dog who is on expensive Advocate but its not working as he is the worst effected. I think it started on the cat who is half stray/adopted but I used flea spray, groomed him every day and popped a flea collar on him and I have only found 1 flea in 5 days on him. I have sprayed the house, mattresses, sofas etc with expensive flea spray and for a few days didn't see any in the house at all. I had bathed the dog and groomed him but even with the Advocate (he had a new pipette about 2 weeks ago) I am combing 5-20 out of him every day and today I had them jumping on me from my bedroom floor and kitchen floor ahhhh! I have been hoovering twice a day and my house is the cleanest it's ever been and I am really stressing. I also have tried putting Apple Cider Vinegar in the dogs/cats water bowls and so far thats not working (been 5 days). I shall buy some Indorex tommorow and spray house again but am worried it is effected my 3 yr old who plays on the carpets and I was told I can't put anything else on my dog until the Advocate has worn off... On Tuesday this week, my house caught fire. Our family of 5, including 3 children escaped unharmed. The damage was pretty extensive and the fire marshall and the insurance adjuster are calling the structure a total loss. We were buying the house on contract and there was only enough insurance to cover the mortgage on the house and the demolition. Our possessions were not covered by renter's insurance. Basically, everything we had is gone. There are some scraps of wood furniture that might survive the water damage but all our clothes, electronics, mattresses, couches, etc are ruined. The bright side is our landlord says he will give us the land the house set on after the mortgage is paid by the insurance company so we will own it free and clear. My question is what to do now? Is there any assistance, grants, etc available to victims of fires to help with what insurance does not cover? Are there any forgiving mortgage companies out there that can use the value of the land as a down payment and look past bad credit so we can rebuild on the same land? Do any of you have any advice on anything we might be overlooking? The American Red Cross has given us a small food and clothing allowance and my father's church has paid for a hotel room until a week from Sunday. My 12 year old sister (you might have seen her on here) has the most terrible periods. When we go to school in the morning, her bed is often soaked through two sheets and the mattress even with a night pad and looks (and probably feels) terrible. She's often crying and has period pain every morning. It's a nightmare. According to her, I'm the only person she can talk to apart from our mum. I'm afraid it used to happen to me. But I went on the pill and it got better, but our mum (who's an ex nurse) says the pill isn't safe for 12 year olds. But then again she said that tampons weren't safe either, and they would be too big and wouldn't fit because I wasn't developed. I've been using them since I was 11, and I'm fine! I used to have a thin duvet and two pillows and I wouldn't have any troubles getting to sleep but it wasn't the warmest or most luxurious bed to sleep in, but on the plus side I didn't have much trouble getting up in the morning...recently though I replaced my old mattress protector with a thicker, quilted one, got quilted pillow protectors, doubled my pillows and got a duvet with a higher tog rating. I also sprinkle lavender oil on my pillows so that I sleep even better. I now have a really good nights' sleep at night and am much warmer and sleep much more deeply, but the problem is now I don't want to leave my bed in the morning...this morning it took me over an hour to get out of bed after my alarm clock went. Since then I've got nothing done all day cos I've still been really tired and haven't been able to wake up properly. I even ended up falling asleep on the couch after lunch for a couple of hours. I am really confused and a bit concerned about little red bumps I am finding on my baby. He is almost 9 months old and lately I have been finding these little red bumps that appear to be bites on his face. I don't find them anywhere else on him and no one else in the house seem to have them. They are relatively small bumps that are kind of hard with a lighter colored center, like they have fluid in them. There are not many at a time, maybe one by his ear then in a few days three or four just in random places like his cheek or forehead. He doesn't get new ones everyday. It may go days before a new bump appears.With the bed bug thing going on, this is the first thing I thought of. I have examined his crib mattress several times and do not see anything. We also have a dog and cat in the house so I guess fleas are a possibility but why only on the face? He never seems to scratch these bumps so I'm not sure if they are itchy. They take several days to go away. He isn't sick. Does not have a fever, has a wonderful appetite and is always happy and smiling. I have not changed his detergent and have been using Dreft for all of his bedding and clothing since he was born. He has been getting these bumps off and on for about the last three weeks or so. This may sound like a silly question, but I'm a new mom-to-be (34 weeks pregnant with a girl), and I'm trying to get my baby's room ready. We got this really cute crib bedding set, but the blanket that came in it is waaaaay shorter than the mattress. The fitted sheet in the set was perfect, so I'm guessing the blanket is supposed to be shorter. I know that they don't actually sleep with the blanket, but how are you supposed to make it look nice in the crib while the baby's not using it? Is there a certain way that most people drape it over the crib or something? Hi, I've already researched the other answers on how to get your cat to stop peeing on the furniture, so please, I need different answers. My situation is a bit more complicated. First of all, my cat is already fixed (spayed). So that's not the issue. Here's the story: I have 2 female cats that get along wonderfully- both spayed. They are inside cats & we have a dog outside. One cat ran outside (my 3 year old left the screen door open too long) a couple days ago & my dog decided to rough her up. She's fine, but she did get a minor injury. I'm pretty sure my other cat is reacting to her friend not feeling well (by peeing on our futon). She's done it before when I've changed her food. Seems like she does it when she's upset, etc. Other than these few incidences, she's always used the litter box. As u can imagine, I've tried spraying the soiled areas with special spray (It's called Dumb Cat) and it's supposed to break up the enzymes, etc. I also put a waterproof mattress cover over the futon. So my question is, can anyone suggest any other products or sprays that work REALLY well? I need her to avoid the area. I've heard "feliway" is good. Should I thoroughly clean the area (again) with a better product & then spray the stuff that keeps cats OFF the area? Do you think she'll go find a new spot to pee on? I know, there's no way of knowing. I'd squirt her with the squirt bottle IF i was able to catch her doing it....I've only seen her do it once. I have 2 kids & I'm not always home, so it's kinda hard to stand around & watch her. Thank u in advance for suggestions!! Please, no rude comments from "dog people". I love dogs too. My moms sister gave my husband and I a crib she had set up and used for what she said was a short time, she had it had her house for her grandson who's since grown out of it, when she gave it to us it sort of smelt like dried up rotten milk, she said that it would wipe up, its a pretty cherry wood bed and apparently it converts so a toddler bed later on, we just need a new mattress.... I am not trying to be rude, but this aunt has a tendency to buy things on sale, she said she bought it at baby's r us and it was a relatively expensive model, but she is the type of person who would buy somethinon salele with a flaw just to save a fedollarsrs....my mom was so excited for us treceiveve this crib and I dont want to offend anyone but I have NO issues stepping up and hurting feelings for the sake and safety of my child, and I have NO issues spending money on a new crib in order to ensure mchild'sds safe...the worst part is there is Nstickeret on the crib anywhere to tell me what type of crib it is, and to look up to make sure I do have all the parts (since we took it from my aunt in pieces) and to ensure there are no recalls, which scares me Who anyone use a used crib?? or have?? is there any way I can look for a serial number or a website to ensure the cribs safe? moreVoting Question: This is a sticky situation, can someone help, please?
Please just read all of it and tell me what you think. These are all past events So my brother has a friend who I started talking to June. I first started texting him and it was all basically a joke. But I started texting him for real and I started liking him and I thought he was a really cool guy. So one night I had this sleepover with my brother and my 2 friends and we called him and me and him just talked from about 10 to 4 in the morning just about different things. He'd tell me stories and vice versa. So a couple weeks after that I was having another camp out/sleepover with the same people but I invited him and he came. When I met him, I was really shy.. I could barely look at him. But we were playing this game called Manhunt, and it didn't turn out too well because one of my friends pussied out, but since me and him were on a team, they left to go back home and me and him were alone in the woods. We climbed this big dirt hill and some fireworks were going off so we decided to stay for awhile. Earlier I wouldn't give him a hug because I was really shy and I kinda liked him, which caused my shyness, but when we were alone I gave him one and after he kept his arm around me, still sitting on the dirt hill and talking. Eventually we had to leave cause my mom was looking for me but the dirt hill was really steep, so he just picked me up, the firefighter way, and he carried me for awhile. When we got back to the house, my friends decided to make us sleep together since there was only 3 mattresses. Anyways, I agreed and I was sitting up for awhile because I was nervous to.. Cuddle with him. But he was rubbing my back and he was telling me that everything is fine and that he wouldn't do anything and for me to not be scared. So I did lay down. But he kind of was touching me so I got up and left the tent and went into my house but he followed me. When we got outside he told me that if he was doing anything that bothered me to just tap him on the shoulder, or tell him to stop and he would. I believed him, because I really wanted to because I did really like him by the end of the night. So we layed down again, he put his arms around me and we were like that for about an hour and I was falling alseep. But when he did think I was sleeping he whispered in my ear "Are you awake?" and he kept saying that. I thought it was weird he wanted to know if I was awake or not so I was waiting to see what he do if he though I wasn't awake. And then he started touching me. He touched all of my private parts. I was so shocked, and embarrassed, and angry I didn't know what to say. I couldn't think straight. So I stayed there for a little bit longer but eventually I got up cause I was just so shocked. I told my friends about it when they woke up and they were all shocked and angry. But we didn't tell him we knew. When he got up it was about an hour until he left and we all just talked for a bit. But I felt sick whenever I saw him. I was really hurt and angry. So when he left, the next day I talked to him about it and he told me he was confused and didn't know when to stop because I didn't say anything. And that he's done so much with other girls that he didn't know my boundaries. And when I tried explaining to him that I told him to stop earlier and that he shouldn't have done it again it's like he didn't want to listen. But I still talked to him. Every now and then we talk and I feel like I really like him, but I feel like I don't want to. He seems like he cares about me and that he wants me to trust him but I don't know if I can. I feel like he just wants to use me for sex or something but I'm scared to ask him that.. One day I will but I don't know how to just do it. He always says that he hates playing with peoples trust and that he's sincerely sorry about what he did and that he'd never do anything to make me uncomfortable again, I believe him, but I don't. We have a king size bed that is made of two mattresses pushed together. They are memory foam and were given to my husband and I as a wedding gift from my grandma. The only thing I don't like is the fact we have to have a box spring under them. News have mentioned something about bed bugs and anything on the news is serious. I live in Chicago and they have said we are one of the most bed bug infestation cities in the country. My mom called an exterminator and he will be coming Saturday. I can't wear my clothes or anything and i have to clear out any cloth in my room and stick them in bags so i can wash them and what not. Now, we haven't seen any bug until today when my mom went into my room while it was dark and used a flashlight to search on my mattress and found one. That's when i knew i really had them. I have kept an eye on my friend's relationship with a guy and I think something is wrong. 1: She dyed her hair pink and he did not like it. 2: She got a tattoo, the name of her brother who died and he did not like it. 3: Before Halloween, she wanted to go home and work on costumes. He wanted to go to the theaters. She went with him. 4: He thinks that her ability to crochet is dumb. 5: He jokes about hitting her. 6: She finished her first scarf, and then she decided to hang out her best friend (My sister) who was on an air mattress. MY sister went to the bathroom and a few minutes later, he walked over, seemingly to look out the window for people who were late, and laid next to her. 7: I noticed that nearly all the time, he follows her and holds her. He even follows her to the bathroom as she brushes her teeth. When he holds her, it’s constant. When standing in a parking lot, he has his arm around her. What I noticed was that he lightly brushes his hands over her skin. When she stands next to him while he sits, he has his hand around her leg, above the knee cap. One, he had his hand around the back of her neck as she talked to people. 8: One day, he didn’t want to go to her house because he didn’t feel like it. She had to go over to his house to make him happy. Note that he lives an hour and a half away from her house. 9: Someone made a mess in the kitchen and she was trying to look over to see. But he forcefully pushed her back, telling her to stay put. 10: There’s a mat in the kitchen of my house and he was standing on it. He wanted her to stand on it, she didn’t hear him the first time and he repeated himself in a angry voice. 11: He has done this multiple times, that he would, innocently done, break up conversations between me and her. Once, I was standing back a few feet from her, leaning in, asking how she was when he came over, stood between me and her with his back toward me. 12: She locked herself out of her car once, and a bunch of us were around, waiting. She was on the phone. It was cold out so I tried to be funny by using him as a shield against the cold. But he said he was going over to her because he thought she was talking about him. 13: A group of us were at a lake, and as were about to leave, I found and picked a tiny flower. I gave it to her and he glared at me for a several seconds. He quickly laughed about it and said he was joking. I was diagnosed with Schizoid Personality Disorder SPD at age 15, now I am 21, I can very well see when someone is sad and I can even be empathic but I don't really feel it thou I do act kind of accordingly but is due to a compelling-real-feeling sort of feeling I guess, I am very well capable of emotions or so I think as for I enjoy catharsis, I am very spot on resolving other people's problems but I cannot seem to understand the deepest of my own, I do am cold and very lonely, I tend to attach my self with objects and I'm actually scared of departing from my mother, who seems to be the fondest of my own, she is very ill, deepening about it I see her condition, she had cancer 16 years ago in her large intestine, it was removed and she got stuck with an ileostomy (Basically she has to recollects her own faeces on a special bag through a hole 2 inches to the right side from her belly button) the doctor said she would eventually have her kidneys collapsing, which is already happening along with kidney stones, he also said her liver would, that hasn't happened thou, she was left with a very acute sense of physical pain (The slightest touch hurts her, saying that a pea under her mattress would really hurt her wouldn't be so far fetch), She has the most awful and worsening menstruation since the surgery, she is constantly in pain, and full of an erratic sleepiness (specially when seated), the worst of all is the saddening memory loss, which not close to senile but certainly noticeable, all of this as result of her cancer which happened due to severe starvation through childhood and most adolescence, for years I blamed her and my self for her coldness (She was the most sweet innocent woman I ever met, too innocent perhaps as for she cried out to heal her injustice, until god knows what this psychologist told her she went stone cold, I would never meet my mother again as she was, I'm not saying the constant crying was a good thing but it was certainly a million times better than a stone for a mother, this reminds me, she once dreamed she was having a discussion with her mother who was a rock in the ground, she didn't but I did see the pattern, may be it's our family heritage, and I too will one day be a cold stone in my child's sleep, when I think of my real mother I see that 37 year old caring intelligent mother, I'm afraid her sickness has taken the best of her) but know I know better, It was my grandmother what ever her problem is (I do not know if I should have feelings for her as most people do for their own, What I do know is that she only loves the idea of a grandson not my self, she doesn't even knows my mothers name, she goes through all my three aunts names before reaching her, sometimes my mother just goes along by her sisters names, the only reason I am her predilect grandson is because I am pale white and really blond, which I don't know how to feel about that obvious feeling, certainly not pleased or anything, the really sad thing is my mother has got traces of that, she won't say it out loud and even if she technically (And I'm certain of this) doesn't have a problem with other ethnicities, she does tend to generalise them, which she didn't use to, I think she is carrying inhabitance to an evil ever so strong), she doesn't even seems to be mourning her recently deceased husband, my grand father (He also mistreated my mother, thou he was just her wife's puppet, his words:...my daughter, you know I have to agree with your mother; obey is the word he be-feared using within her dwellings). This helpful digression sets the scenario, I always blamed her, and in-admittedly my self for her seeming odd craziness, I called her a two-faced liar, I used to believe this to be true, an evil Machiavellian adept, I even told her to be her husbands fearing bitch, this I sadly still believe, not bitch but a willing slave of her sadly disgusting, first and last companion of seeming "salvation", her believed choosenles fate to an unrotten loneliness to come of a husband... Now I see she has just been dying, body and soul.
